I think that throwing yourself at the whims of fate over huge gaps and doing technical aerial maneuvers separates the men from the wussies. I think hip hop music and its under tones of hyper masculinity and its underlying quest to out cool other rappers fits well with the bro culture's ideologies on showmanship.
When you are a skier, and you are good at it, there is this underlying energy or drive to out do the other person.. Whether that be better style, better tricks, or better air.
I think by adapting a some what ghetto facade, skiers and snow boarders can enhance their masculine fronts, and the more risky the trick the more they feel entitled to it.
The question is wether skiers and snowboarders listening to black music and adapting some of the ghetto African american mannerisms into the way they conduct themselves a bad thing?
and the answer is of course,
who cares,
