I'm pretty baked and about to watch the Canadiens - Sabres game for the fuck of it even though neither are my team. In the pregame I fell into some deep sports meditation and it occured to me that from the perspective of a fan from the 1960's or 70's modern sports presentations, no matter what the league, would be a serious headtrip. Technology and TV presentation as a whole has just changed so much in such a reletively short time. The place is far louder, stadiums and crowds are twice the size, massive sound systems would be pumping crazy electronic future music through their bodies and in the case of hockey, holographic lights follow players around the ice in warmup. The games themselves would seem way quicker, each average player far better, and the game as they know it would seem entirely different.
If you could bring someone from 1965 to any one sporting event as it is now just to blow the shit out of their minds. what event would it be?
I would have to say the superbowl or a Stanley Cup Final game 7, riot included.
