How to convince friends/family to let me ski park

Title pretty much sums it up! I'm 16 and have family and friends who ski all mountain but I want to devote most my time to park as the skis I've recieved for my birthday are Alpha 1's. I want to be great in the park but the thing is with my family, we don't really split up. By 'split up' I mean we all go down the same ski trails and aren't really allowed to venture off onto other parts of the mountain which I can't blame them for. It's for safety reasons, I assume. I'm not trying to be rebellious or anything, I just have my mind made up that park skiing is what I really want to do this season.

I don't want it to escalate into a big fight about me being ungrateful to them, because I truly cherish every day I'm on snow; I've just set a specific goal that I'm willing to go through anything to achieve. I don't want to hurt their feelings in any way.

Anyone else have a similar predicament when they were my age/transitioning into park skiing? Care to hand down some advice for me? I'm willing to answer any question you want to ask, I don't want to give you guys a bad impression.

*also just ski a couple runs with em at the beginning and then one later in the after noon, that's what i do and my parents are fine with it

Just ask them and say that you're 16 and responsible enough to do things for yourself.. Especially skiing if you know you're capable of it

Bring a friend regularly who wants to ski park too. works everytime. and wearing a helmet all the time works with parents too.

be straight up and just ask if you could take some laps in the park. Maybe they'll get interested in some park as well?

i haven't skied with my family in 5 years, and theyre at the same mountain as me....grow up!

just tell them that you really appreciate that they ski with you, but tell them you need to ski alone or with a friend once in a while..

Its cool that you get to ride with your family.

As far as being able to head into the park, maybe suggest paying for your own lift ticket if possible. Also saving up for some crash pads and safety gear.
Tell them you care enough to not hurt their feelings and are grateful of everything they do for you and also the fact you really want to learn. No parent can stop a kid really wanting to learn something like this.

Just sit em down at a good time and mention it. Show maturity in the fact you want to try park and will always be wary of your own safety. Can't see your folks really having a problem with it.

Maybe have a freestyle lesson at your mountain, weather you can do stuff already or not. Might give your parents some peace of mind that you'll know what your doing.

if they always want to ski together convince them to let you just ski park then you can meet up with them or just call to check in thats what i did a couple years ago when i ever just wanted to ski by myself

Well ouch.

I stated at the end of my first post that I'm willing to answer any question you might have regarding the relationship of my family/skiing ability, there is no need to call names. I know that things get pretty heated around here but I'm just trying to seek advice from you. That's it.

I'm homeschooled so I'm sorry I don't have the proper quantity of friends you want me to have but for the friends I do have, I'm grateful to have them around. I know what you're thinking "oh he's homeschooled what a fucking glass-wearing momma's boy". You're half right if you do but I'm proud of it! Haha, but to be serious, I love heading to the mountain and love the people I get to go with. I probably sound like some chickenshit right now but that's because I'm trying to watch what I say and not make a shitstorm of things. (Clearly it didn't fuckin' work.)...Thanks to the people who gave me good advice and I guess a thank you to those of you who insulted me. Sure it hurt but at least you're trying to give advice.

I'm not trying to say "if you have nothing nice to say don't say it", but constructive criticism isn't too complex is it?

The point has already been made though. I re-read the thread and to be honest I can see how I sound like a pussy. I was just worried about causing a fuss with you guys.. Truth is I lurk around here quite a lot so I look up to a bunch of you guys. Not in the 'role model' sense of the word, but as skiers so I really wanted to try and sound humble.

Didn't work out the way I planned, though.

just tell them you just wanna venture and do your own thing but you will meet up with them at the bottom of the run or on top of some lift. start with only like one lap and move to 2 or 3 a day and so on. i feel ya bro.

When I was 16.... I went to Colorado alone and stayed with my friend in Keystone, skied for a week and came home. Idk what to say in your situation... Have you tried "Mom, dad, I'm going to go ski the park for a while, I'll meet you at 4 in the lodge?"

i ski by myself all the time at my home hill (buck hill MN) but when i go out to colorado i ski with my dad and sister in the morning then after lunch head out to park by myself.

but yah if they say no just "get detached from them" and then meet them when the hill closes and say oh sorry i couldnt find you guys :)
