I'm no cop hater or anything. I appreciate what they do *most of the time*. However, I have seen lots of police brutality in the recent videos taken at the Occupy Wall Street Protests. I understand the NYPD is taking orders and doing their job but REALLY, the lady wasn't posing a threat at all and she got knocked out cold. Come on now.

At least Occupy Wall Street and the Occupy whatever cities will be over soon. Once winter hits I bet these pussy wont be able to handle a little cold and snow. If some try and die thats cool to just shows survival of the fittest is still working today!

i'd venture to say that a lot of peeps on ns fall into the 1% that these peeps are protesting against...i could be completely off but skiing is definitely one of the most expensive leisure activities out there.  just a matter of time before the movement develops into Occupy Aspen, Occupy Vail, etc.

Yep - my advice is simply this - nobody gives you anything in life for free - or if you simply wait around long enough - you have to go out and make it happen yourself. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it..... rise above that shit, look after number 1, and make a great life for yourselves - it's not impossible, trust me.... just takes dedication.

And you make your own opportunities.

Exactly. No such thing as something for nothing.

Want to know how the 'richest 1%' became the richest 1%? They worked hard, studied hard, spent hours filling out application forms, and got the job they wanted.

I have shit loads of debt right now. But I'm working hard, so I can get a job in the City or in Wall Street, and pay off every single penny of that debt myself, and then some.

my dad does alright for himself. hes not a rich man by any means, but he's comfortable.
lately he keeps mentioning to pay for everything in cash, cause when you pay in cash that meens you can actually afford it.

and the more i think about it, the more it makes sense, and the more right i realise he is.

credit isnt a bad thing, but when you over spend on it like 99% of people do, its realllllll bad.

Credit is fine when it's for investment. Small businesses, companies and governments all use credit to fund capital expansion. That capital expansion then yields growth - the bank gets its money back, the firm makes a nice profit, and everyone's happy.

The issue is when people start using credit as an extension of their income - to buy what they want.

One of the main causes of the crisis was subprime mortgage lending. People borrowed more they can afford. And when they couldn't pay it back, they got angry at the banks.

Of course, banks should have stopped them borrowing. But borrowers have a responsibility not to borrow more than they can afford. If you're less well off, you buy a smaller house.

My parents have a solid credit rating, and they could, if they wanted, take on a huge mortgage, and buy a huge house. But they can't afford it, so they live in a house of the size that they can comfortably pay for.
