Hidden gems in NYC

I'm headed into manhattan this weekend with my girlfriend and i was wondering if anyone whos there often or who lives there has any cool suggestions. ive been a bunch of times, and have been to soho to shop, times sqaure etc, and i know some restaurants that are awesome in the meat packing district and little italy etc, but if anyone has any unique or "hidden gems" or anything id love to hear it. I was thinking about going to the laugh lounge then to beauty and essex for a few drinks one night. I also wanna try out please dont tell too.

Go to Aruthur Ave in the BX. That is the real Little Italy of New York and there are a bunch of really good restaurants there.

Check out the Highline Park in the Meat Packing District. Deffinetly a pretty cool park and different than the norm.

If you like mac and cheese go to Smac. It is in the East VIllage and they do mac and cheese like 20 different ways.

The Fort Tyron Cloisters are interesting to see if you are up that way.They are past the GWB and there is only the A train that stops up that way.

Theres a bar in the East Village called Scratchers that is pretty good. They always have some interesting live music there. Its on east 5th right off of Bowery.

The Smith is a good spot too. Restaurant/bar. its on 3rd between 10 & 11.

Spitzers is another good spot. Its on the Lower East Side. You can bar hop in that whole neighborhood around Orchard Street.

Arthur Avenue is def the real Little Italy. The food up there is really like no other Italian food anywhere. But if you want really good Italian food and want to stay in Manhattan go to Frank in the East Village. Its on 2nd Ave and east 5th. Its a funky space but I promise you, you wont be dissappointed. And they stay open late. Its a good/fun place to go with your girl.

For non bar stuff.......The Highline is cool I guess. Gets super crowded on the weekends.
Unless you want to deal with the Occupy Wall Street fucktards I would avoid the World Trade Center. They are right next to it.
There is always plenty of live music to look for. A lot of city streets shut down on the weekends to traffic and there are flea markets everywhere.
Head to Brooklyn maybe?

for Vietnamese  (including the best Pho and Banh Mi I've ever had anywhere)
-go to Brooklyn at the corner of 5th ave and bay ridge ave; don't know the name but it's got a big green awning

for awesome fried anything you can imagine and good English pub food
-go to the chip shop, Google them, multiple locations, i know the original is in Brooklyn; park slope I think?

also check out the entire park slope neighborhood; it's a mecca for hipsters but if you look past it that have an amazing variety of great restaurants, bars, and little organic type markets

PDT always sounded like fun. If you are into Thai food I would suggest Holy Basil in the East Village. I have eaten a lot of Thai food in the city and Holy Basil has been the best for me. Plus, it is romantic inside, and would be a great spot to have a date.

there is a bar on the upper west side called Lions Head...on amsterdam somewhere between 110th and 120th.  on sunday they do all you can eat wings and all you can drink beer from noon to 6pm for about $20.  good place to watch some football and get drunk on the cheap!!
