It is very relevant to this situation, as you are using your opinions on free will to shape your argument. And I would say free will is quite real depending on what your definition is... sure, your choices are going to be shaped by your past experiences, and your genetic predispositions, and your perceptions of both.. but impact =/= governance. That's my take at least.
The fact is, that your life impacts other people. Doesn't matter if you like it or not, that's the way it is. Most of the choices you make will have an impact on other people's lives in one way or another, and you should at the very least be aware of it, if not let it impact your decision making process.

Yea, it's great to have friends you can share deep personal things with, but just because most people don't want to hear about how you love penis on a regular basis, that makes life unfit to live? I honestly do think the average person in a first world country should be ecstatic with their position in life. Should they strive to make it better? Sure. Should they get hung up on things like people not accepting you for are? No. There's always going to be people who don't like you/who you are.
