JIberish Winter Drop #1

To kick off the season we will be offering the first shipment of Winter goods online starting on Saturday October 22nd at ABSTRACTmall.com. Due to the size of the range we split the Winter drop into 2 dates. The first drop will include some of our hooded sweatshirts, crewnecks, tees, and some jackets. These items will also start to arrive at official Jiberish retailers in North America, Europe, and Asia in late October/early November. The full collection of drop 1 can be viewable at www.ABSTRACTmall.com on Thursday October 20th, 2 days prior to the online release.

Products from drop 1 will be available at Jiberish LoHi, at Jiberish Vault, and at www.jiberish.com starting on November 5th. Stay tuned for more information on drop 2 in the coming weeks.

materials used - 100% cotton for the most part. inb4 chambreezy and that other one witht he blue and white stripes.none have rayon, or poly as far as i know, but i dont have ever piece of jiberish memorized.

tall fit - tons of big and tall stores

limited run of clothing - didn't i just mention that?

trendyness - mentioned that too, as far as i know i never determine clothing quality by how trendy it is.

im not disrespecting jiberish, im just saying that quality isn't that amazing, and the materials used aren't anything too special for what you're paying.

it has tall fit, limited quantity, and unique artwork, and good marketing.

they don't market like normal companies because that would label them as any other generic brand. they take pride in producing quality garments that give the customer a sense of "exclusiveness". Sure they could just make hoodies/crew/tees/flannels that just have a giant j-crown logo on them and they'd sell like hot cakes, but this would generalize the brand and give it more of an over-exposed look.

it isn't the usual marketing strategy, they definitely have some great marketing but it's only within the ski community.

Actaully their mktg strategy is pretty cookie cutter - limited distribution, high prices, buzz generation rather than advertising. They're just incredibly effective with it because of the target market - trend following, affluent, younger males. The only thing out of the ordinary in terms of mktg for them is their product development and offerings, which are pretty unique. I think they're trying to (and should) move outside of the skier realm, but they still have such a cult following.

i wouldn't consider that marketing, that's more of the company's mindset/qualities. this argument is going nowhere, no matter what Jiberish does people will keep buying it, keep wearing it and the company will keep going.

Not trying to fuel an argument here, but you obviously have no idea what marketing is either. Marketing encompasses product, pricing, placement, and promotion. Advertising is only a small part of what marketing actually is.

i completely understand marketing, i was misread marketing for advertising at first lol. but i wouldn't consider that a marketing strategy really, just my opinion on it, but that's more of the company's roots, you either want a huge, popular brand in every store, or a smaller one.

Everyone keeps telling me I'm retarded, yet nobody wants to tell me why. I still stand by the fact that I can buy anything these so called "streetwear" brands make at Nordstrom, Roots, J.Crew, Banana Republic, etc. We're talking about fucking sweatshirts and buttondown shirts here haha. Just because it's in limited supply doesn't make the quality any higher, and don't give me some bullshit about the material they use. It's cotton.

I'm not going to give you any bullshit about material or quality.

People buy the stuff because it is exclusive, and because it looks good. No, you cannot go buy any streetwear at J Crew, Nordstrom, BR, or anything. People buy things for what is on them -- for the designs. That is like saying that you can get art for free from your 3 year old, but people buy paintings for thousands of dollars, and they are the same. You can simply not get the same designs that you see on Jiberish or Supreme from other brands. (granted, some of supreme's stuff is based solely around the box logo)

Exclusivity is a HUGE part of it, and there is no way around it. I like buying a shirt and knowing that I am only one a few that has it. I know it doesnt make the quality higher, but low-run does raise price, as materials are not bought in bulk, and you have to hire a factory that costs a lot to run, due to having attentive workers, doing different jobs all day, as opposed to working in a sweatshop, stitching the same sleeve onto the same body of sweatshirt ever day.

When someone buys a designer suit, do you tell them that you could have gotten it for a 100th of the price at the Gap?

Completely unrelated, because in that situation the difference is completely in the quality, fit, and look, not exclusivity or design, which you seem to be saying is the only difference between "streetwear" and regular clothes. This argument is fucking retarded, I can't believe I'm still talking about this haha. Clothes are fucking clothes. You get what you pay for. There is no such thing as streetwear. It's a god damn shirt, no matter how you want to describe it.

Quality goes way beyond materials. A huge part of quality is fit and creative/unique designs. Another huge aspect of "streetwear" is the association with the brand and its following. I think it's kinda cool that if someone is wearing a Jiberish hoodie you can pretty much assume that he or she skis or boards.

So if I made a slimmer, baggier than normal sweatshirt out of materials I bought at Jo-Ann Fabrics that I cut up with scissors and sewed together (zomg cut n sew!), then printed on an obscure design and called it "art" that would be streetwear?

Please, please tell me how the buttondown shirt I'm wearing right now from J.Crew is any different from what Jiberish makes. It fits well (probably better and more correct than the long, skater style of the Jiberish shirts), is high quality, and I've never seen anyone else wearing this exact shirt. I guess it must be streetwear.

I'm obviously being a bit facetious, but let's be real here, streetwear brands do nothing special.

j.crew shirts also cost the same or more than the jiberish ones. so I don't get what you're trying to argue now. You originally posted that you could go get 'streetwear' at the mall for less, but now you're comparing streetwear to more upmarket menswear brands.
