blindside to frontside switch up on a rainbow rail coming around for the second switch up my tip got wedged under the coping, double ejector face plant, my neck is sore today.

^^ I've emailed surface with various picture of the ski and what happened waiting to hear back from them.

If you mentioned that you were on a rail.... no warranty. If they do happen to warranty your ski even with "rail damage" then major props to Surface.

I told them straight up what happened. I'm honestly not expecting much other then possibly a decent discount on a new pair from their website that's about it.

The skis were actually really rad I was having a awesome time on them up until that point. Any ski probably would have broken how it happened

wow, this is a total shock....
don't worry, i'm sure surface will hook you up with a warranty pair. after all it's pretty much common knowledge the the Nine Lives from that year had their cores milled far too thin making them a DANGER to ride. regardless of "rail damage"; since there is no possible way sliding a metal rail could affect the dimensions of the core right? that sounds like grounds for a warranty on every pair of skis doesn't it?























maybe if it was a real ski company...unlike Surface.

surface is the worst company in freeskiing, don't support those douchebags from utah that don't know how to make a ski (and don't make them in house either) and refuse to take responsibilities for their fuck ups.

no. I have seen people complain a fair amount about the quality of surface skis on here but even in light of recent events I still stand by them. this site is full of trolls. I'd be willing to bet a lot of them hating on surface haven't even ridden them, their too busy worrying about how they look and who has the latest saga suit to actually care about performance of skis. (in no way am I saying that is a reflection of you)

more like the opposite. turn your one straight Nine Life into a ski shot, get trashed and forget the horrible purchase you made. there is no way surface will replace your skis if you even thought about hitting a rail. not trying to sound like a dick, it's just the way they do business...

ha believe it or not i just sent it to another member (kingskier) because he had the same issue. but i've seen 5+ threads selling individual 9lives...maybe you'll get lucky.

or maybe you'll get even luckier and Surface will hook you up.

I got a season of use out of my nines, they snapped behind the binding a few weeks ago when I came off a rail early and landed very backseat grass. Overall for the price I paid, I got my moneys worth. But they still delammed the second time I used them. I was busting out the duct tape for them pretty quick haha. I don't trust Surface durability, but at least they are cheap.

My nine lives snapped just like that from landing backseat in 3 days of riding. Get new skis from a different company

Wow, I've never seen so many people bad mouth a company for what appears to be legitimate problems with their production methods. If you want a quality ski that is made in house that won't stop doing what you want it to do in the snow until you superglue shotglasses to it, you should try out Moments. Find a place to demo, and be amazed. I've skied their skis for about four years and lived in Reno since they started. I've never seen a broken pair of moments, I heard some guy landed a 60ft drop into crazy rock gardens and that broke a pair, of course I heard that guy also needed about 45 staples in his body afterwards. Point of the story, best ski company in America, period.

They admitted that they had milled the cores of the nine lifes down too far, making them more prone to snapping. Not to mention Surface kinda ridiculed him over the forums, which is pretty unproffessional.The whole problem is kinda in the past now, but its going to take a long time for Surface to lose the reputation they now have b/c of that one bad ski.

I snapped both tails on my nine lives on my second day out. they warrantied them for me and upgraded me to the next years park ski with a skullcandy graphic. I have had no broblems with the new pair after about half a season. Worth a try imo.

the catastrophic failure these (and every other pair of 09/10 shittyass Nine Lives) experienced has absolutely nothing to with rail damage whatsoever. as joshua and i said previously, they ADMITTED they fucked up and released a horribly flawed park ski, but yet refuse issue refunds or warranties on 90%+ of the skis because people used their PARK SKIS to hit PARK FEATURES. imagine that....
somehow this massive issue has slid through the cracks and countless skiers basically tossed their money down the drain on a pair of skis comparable to couple of thin toothpicks.

I admit I knew nothing about the problems 09 Nine Lives had before this, so I can't talk about that. But saying a company should warranty park skis after hitting park features is bs because virtually every company has the same policy. I've broken Fujatives, Scratches, and Dumonts, all in the park. K2, Rossignol, and Salomon all denied my warranty because I broke them hitting park features.

Spencer's skis looked like they had been ridden for 2 seasons after a day of riding, which I was present for. keep in mind he is no champion park skier, so they should have still looked nearly brand new after that one day.

like someone said, this shit is in the past, surface refused to own up to their HUGE fuck up which trashed their reputation with many, many people, and now they will forever be out a good chunk of potential loyal customers.

don't buy surface is all it really comes down to, I would rather support boone then those douche bags from utah

Within the past month I purchased a pair of Nines right from you guys. I've only skied them 4 times and there is what I consider to be pretty destroyed. I count 17 edge cracks (12 on right, 5 on left), a tip that the edge was beginning to rip out that i had to tap back in, and an extremely banged up topsheet. I love the ski. Probably my favorite park ski I've ever owned. Just the durability on my pair has been terrible. I would consider them pretty damn close to urban condition already. Which both makes me sad and a little pissed off that I JUST dropped all my money on them. So I'm wondering if there is anything at all you guys can do for me? Please?
