I've been searching for a new pair of boards to round out my quiver. Currently my two pairs of everyday skis are 190 Goats (last year with camber, had an unmounted pair :) ) and '10-'11 190 Katanas.

For powder boards, I  picked up a pair of 195 Super S7's last year and broke two pairs. So i've been searching for a pair of skis to replace the SS&'s. After breaking two pairs last year, I decided to go back to the tied and tested, VOLKL. After reading a bunch about the 193 Shiro, as it seams to fit the bill, I came across of posting that recommended the ON3P 191 Caylor. The Caylor sounds like a sick ski and could be what i am in search of. 

My home mtn is Squaw and regularly ski at Jackson, Alta and Snowbird.

Me: 6', 210lbs.

Anybody out there ridden the two? Feel free to opine to either the Caylor or Shiro as the ON3P are new to me for comparison.  I had a chance this weekend to check out the Shiro.

Well, at your weight it is going to be very important to find a stiff enough flex pattern. As you already found out with the Rossys, things can go pretty bad if your on something too soft.
Concerning the Caylor, that may be a good ski for you however from what I have heard the durability of the ON3Ps isn't exactly very consistent.
The Shiros may be a better way to go, however I have found working at a shop that the bases on those can be quite thin and prone to coreshots.
Have you ever considered going with custom skis? I am the same weight as you and I simply could not find the exact right ski. Nothing was long enough. Big guys like us need alot of ski for stability at high speed.
The ski that I ended up going with is a 205cm Folsom Gambit. It is easily the best ski I have ridden and is the only ski that feels like it actually fits. A bit more pricey, but they are ridiculously durable. You can pick your own graphic, flex pattern, and dimensions. Check it out.

Where did you hear that about ON3P? Ive never heard anything but shining praise for their stuff. I have some 2 year old Wrenegades that have been bombproof thus far, that I absolutely love. They would probably be pretty good for this guy actually, in the 190 size of course. Theyre very stable, quite stiff, and are overall awesome skis. The Caylors are pretty cool too from what I tried, but I wasnt able to ski them in soft snow. You might also check out their Pillow Fight. The prototype that I saw was awesome and they sound like really cool skis. Shiros are also very nice skis, at least from the looks of them, and if you know that you like Vokl stuff then it seems like you couldnt really go wrong there. But check out some of ON3Ps other stuff before you make your final decision as well.

thanks for the responses. Everything I've reading about the Caylor's make me want to check them out. Caveat is the Caylor isnt exactly and "on the rack" in ski shops. Stiffness is most important to my fat a*s. Can anyone compare the flex pattern and stiffness from the Shiro to the Caylor?

I haven't skied the Shiro, but it will be a very directional ski, whereas the Caylor is more symmetrical. The Caylor has a pretty medium/slightly stiff flex to it which works well for a small guy like me in all conditions, but it really depends on what you want to do with it.

You should talk to scott (iggyskier) and see what he thinks, I bet he could add a layer of glass in there to stiffen it up for you if you want.
