Winter setup

So i want to make a winter setup in my backyard, i have a really big yard and i was wondering for rails if i should use metal to make them ( my dad can weld them ) or just make pvc rails? and i have a spot were i could build a jump, its fairly steep but a pretty big kicker to try a backflip on and other stuff should i make it out of dirt and cover it with snow or just make it all out of snow?

metal for the rails..dirt for a bit of the jump if it doesnt snow much at your house..

It's always nice to have a foundation for the jump, make it about half the size you expect it to be.

As far as rails, if you're only hitting them with natural snow, ie. cold weather. Do meatal, if you're planning on using them in the summer as well use PVC.

i have both types of rails..i like to learn new tricks on pvc just because when i fall on a metal rail, i shatter my ribs but on pvc only crack em at most

I think you could use the metal ones in the summer too but just wax them. if you want them to last for a while use metal and for the jump put some dirt as a base layer and as high as you want. The more dirt the easier it is to build a jump that will last.

i would do pvc only because its super cheap to build a rail and no matter the conditions pvc is always quick when sometimes metal gets sticky
