downloading software for college.

heres the problem for you tech-ie guys. i need a program that i can use to download stuff with here at CU. right now i have bit torrent but that is hard cuz there are not that many host sites for that stuff. and ive tried DC++ but i dont meet the minimum share limit for most of the servers that you log onto. so my question is what is out there that i can use and not get detected while doing so. here at CU the moniter our bandwidth so they will know if we are downloading stuff. let me know, cuz i cant let this T1 line go to waste.thanks

I'm sure the system they probably use would require a login to the internet gateway to get from the local network out to the net if they limit bandwidth. That said, you wouldn't even be able to run a routing program on a library comp because it would still require you to use a username/password to get through. However, if you can gain acces to some sort of public account that is for guests, etc. and use that you could make it work. If I were you I'd route the connection all around the local network though so the trace doesn't get back to your comp easily. Being a half-decent hacker I could probably figure it out if I were on the premises, but that's about all I can tell ya for now.

woord, but if you still log on with a diff username on your comp, they'll still track your ip, which is probably static.

i used ares last year. worked fine for me. also, get itunes and tell all the other people in your dorm to do the same. then you can listen to eachother's playlists.
