Critique - Our first webisode

Ive been in New Zealand for 3 months now and at first I just intended to make a small ski edit of our trip. After filming for a week or so we found we had a massive amount of footage so we decided to make 3 webisodes, which has subsequently turned into 6 as we keep getting more footage. These are not all skiing related but the first one predominantly is.

I hope you enjoy our first webisode and please leave comments as to how we could improve the edit.

I dont think he actually was pissing at the time, i think it was the tap running! But did you like the overall editing and filming? and what would you improve on apart from more skiing?

1. why the fuck is there a video of u peeing
2. no offense but i swear to god if i hear that song again i will kill myself
3. maybe a little better skiing

but before u lower my karma and call me a bitch
the video was really cool to watch and it has lots of potential :D

May i be the first to say i really enjoyed the episode and how good it is to see british skiing producing some decent webisodes.. I think the film shows typical british humour which may not be grasped by americans but is nonetheless funny.. looking forward to the next one

Cheers man thanks for the feedback. In terms of the skiing, in our upcoming webisodes we will have footage of us hitting the bigger kickers in the park and there are some better tricks in those shots.
Which song do you think is overplayed? I thought they we all fairly unused apart from perhaps "how do you like your eggs in the morning" which I used because I thought it fitted nicely with the footage.

sorry man but its not starry eyed. I would be very very surprised if you knew what song it is as its only been on youtube for 3 months and its a remix. I'm not a fan of all the trashy brostep that seems to be churned out all the time but i do quite like this chilled song.

fair enough, ive only heard it recently and really like it. I don't usually like dubstep in ski edits but I though this song worked quite well.

Please keep coming with the feedback its all really useful and will help me produce better edits in the future.

Okay that was actually really sick. Colour was great and vertical camera stability was awesome.
Very enjoyable.
The one problem that I had was the side to side play in your skiing shots. The camera and subject were shifting left to right a wee bit, slightly bumpy.
Otherwise everything else was actually very well done and had a professional look and tone to it.

Glad you liked it. I do agree with you on the side to side movement, im not sure my glidecam is completely balanced. Is there some way of balancing the glidecam so that is doesn't have that side to side movement?

Thanks man, glad you liked the shots. I will try to limit the toilet humour for the next episode. We do realise we aren't the best skiers but we do our best!

nice man, really enjoyable to watch. and dont listen to these amuricans, the humour was perfect.

where abouts did you guys end up going? stoked on the cathedral cove shot at the end, will be following your webisodes for sure. keep it up!

We went up the west coast of the south island from queenstown and then went to taupo from wellington and then up to auckland and to the bay of islands for a bit although the weather wasn't great. I would have liked to have spent more time in wellington but we had to get to auckland.

We filmed a fair bit at cathedral cove as its such a sick spot. I will definitely be going back out to NZ next year.

tomfoolery is generally accepted, just dont go overboard (aka easy on the peeing).

whenever u use slomo, make sure to turn off frame blending, as it creates ghosty figures that arent in the original video file.

also the narrative in the beginning was very good, just i couldnt stand the quality of the mic. it was either too loud or too fuzzy i have no idea. I'd either get a new mic or just cuz out intense narrative altogether


also, i really liked the text you used. Where did you get it or how did you make it?

Really good! Didn't like the narrative but keep the pissing and nudity. Kinda feels like a rip of chug life but its funny as shit. Quality shots definitley made up for skiing, can't wait to see the next ones.

I remembered to turn off frame blending on the second half of the 720p clips but forgot to do the rest, i will make sure i change this on up coming edits.

When we did the voice over we may have had the mic too close, I was using the rode videomic so the quality should have been alright.
