New Canon DSLR Release, October 18th.

Word on the street is a new DSLR will be released on the 18th. Its been said to either be a new 1d/1ds successor or the new 5dmkIII.

Total scepticism, but possible suggested specs are:

One model which is integrates the 1D and 1Ds
18 million pixel full-size sensor
61 focus points.
14 fps (12 fps with AF)
New battery, but it will also be able to use older ones
150-200 grams heavier than the current model
ISO range: 100-51200
Fixed LCD monitor
Street price of about 600,000 yen body only
New 24-70mm lens with a price of about 200,000 yen
October 18 announcement, scheduled to be released mid-March of next year

Have not heard a suspected price? Will have to depend on what line it fits in.

exactly, relative to each person. You might not find the features this new cam might provide worth the money, but many, many others will. Full frame with a 12-14 FPS drive? That wide of an ISO range(and I guarantee it will kick ass even at 12800+), the build quality, etc. This camera will be an amazing piece of technology, wether you think it is worth it or not. Just like how I think an fs100 isn't worth anywhere near the price they charge and don't understand why people buy it, everything is relative in the world of cameras.

I meant relative to other offerings for the price.

I'm not denying its a leap in technology, nor do I deny that people can utilize its potential. I'm simply asking why these features are worth the price? By my example, the RED and fs100 are a bargain because you get an outstanding return for the price you pay. With this, I just don't see how it's any more than marginally better than what's already out? I can't immediately think of a use for 14 FPS or 12800+ ISO for anything other than extremely narrow and specialized fields.

Canon Rumors is now confirming with 100% certainty that there will be a new Canon 1-Series camera launched on Tuesday. 12fps and 18mp with 61 AF points. A full frame camera that finally amalgamates the 1ds and 1 series lineup into one ultimate badass camera. Likely the price will be more than a 1dMK4 , so probably $6000.
