I don't know if anyone here follows politics, but i must say that this has to be one of the dumbest moves ever, im a supporter of the Liberials but i think its time to see a new face as the leader of our country (Canada), someone that is young and energitic, not some old guy, someone that see's the new views of todays youth, But back to the firing of Paul MArtin, he was the best finance minester we have ever had, he balanced our budjet 5 years in a row.

i somewhat agree, but u can't have people within the same party neglecting their current job in favour of their own leadership attempts. martin refused to leave his leadership rally when chretien asked him to speak. definite neglect there..

no, it's not a good topic, it's gay, and politics are gay, cause the people that run the country know what they are doing, you don't so shut up and stop thinking you could run a country

yes, very wise statement. if u don't know everything about the topic, it's better to have no opinion at all. what makes u think that our politicians know more about their country's citizens than the actual citizens? why don't u join the debate rather than condemn it?

Although Paul Martin was a very good finance minister, you have to at least acknowledge the fact that he got the position in a very good time. If you compare it to the finance minister who held the position during the great depression (the name is lost on me) then Martin has had a walk in the park. He has done a good job, but his timing was also very convenient.

Paul Martin did great things for our country's economy and firing him now is probably the worst thing that Chretien could do for his future. Not only did most people in Canada respect him (including members of other parties) he was widely respected globally. In my view, Chretien should have waited this situation out for a little longer and maybe Paul Martin would have removed himself from the cabinet. That way Chretien wouldn't have looked so reactionary. Anyways, I think Paul Martin will (and should)win the next leadership race regardless of how this mini-drama plays out. It's just a shame that it had to happen and nothing good will result for our economy.

You all don't really understand what's going on. They knew Martin was leaking things to the media about the party, that's why Chretien booted him, he was wanting the leadership bad enough to disrupt the party. Chretien won the leadership and Martin's been trying to get it ever since. Martin was letting all those things out about the party, and Chretien warned him. He chose to leave, then whatever.
