Me and a friend are having a little dispute when it comes to foresters. I've been looking around at cars for a while, and i've started to realize that the most realistic for me, is probably a forester. He seems to think it is a "dyke car", and no matter what, does not look good. I however think that a Forester XT done right, can look fucking ill. Here is my proof.
07 alpine white n/a with 105k on it. It's perfect for getting up to the hill with you and 4 friends. Plus it's a wagon so you have the extra room and don't have to pay the insurance for a wrx. I went with a n/a so it would be cheaper and more reliable, but I'm definitely gonna get a turbo'd car later on.
The pre 09 foresters are essentially imprezas/wrx's with a different body. A ton of the parts bolt directly on. In the next couple months I'm making mine a pavement princess and putting on 17's and swapping out my stock struts and springs for some wrx ones to drop it about 2 to 3 inches. I don't care if you wanna talk shit about mine, foresters with a drop look sick and I'm not going to be going offroad with it so it's still going to be functional. It's still going to handle the same in the snow, I just won't have as much clearance.
Contemplating putting 1inch subtle spacers on my 2013, anyone have experience slightly lifting a foz? I pretty much just want a little bit more clearance, and eventually I'm thinking of putting some larger wheels and tires on. thinking most likely some geolandar A/T-S 225/70/17 or maybe some 235/65/17 (but not sure if 235 is too wide), currently only have the 16in wheels on deck, tires are 215/60/16, i believe?
I know that a lot of people have used king springs for lifting. I think spacers would work well too. Springs just go right over stock struts. Check out the Subaru forester forums. I wanna say it's subaruforester.org but I'm not one hunna

Yup thats the site I've been researching on. I didn't come across any springs that would fit a 2013 forester though.
didn't read thread but heres mine. i love her so much. will more then likely only own a subaru for the rest of my life. coil overs are in the mail and wheels to come soon! but 04 forester xt with full sti swap. 6speed. 05 sti struts and springs and 9000 lb hidden winch on the back. looking at 328 awhp 356 tq she fun and eats sti's for breakfast. while carrying the groceries 2 kayaks a bike and 2 kids and a dog in the back.
XtRemE11IMO foresters are a completely pointless car. and even more pointless/retarded when people lower them. they suck at driving on the road. they handle like shit, dont really do anything very well when it comes to driving on dry road. which would be fine if it were an SUV that was capable offroad. but its not. they suck ass off road. so its the worst of both worlds. sucks offroad, and sucks on road. then you lower it and it sucks more at both. really, its a fucking minivan, thats more square.
or just get a forester and check both at the same time.they are production rally cars if you change suspension set up it will turn better. its simple mechanics. coil overs would provide stock ground hight or slammed on the ground. they turn very very well when its done right. iv had everything from bmw, vws, duramaxs, jeeps and full size suvs. hell even a ford bronco. subi kicks all ass on and off road.
XtRemE11yeahhhh, people rally forresters huh? and drag race? you can make a fucking minivan accelerate fast. and i have driven one, an xt, it was a numb piece of shit, soft and had terrible understeer. subaru's in general dont drive that great on road, and the forester is worse than most.
i refer to my first comment for this one. ^
.sheldon.red or black mud flaps on my platinum silver 05 fxt
Black.. don't be that guy.
TheChosenOneI recently had a really sick 04 wrx that i totaled and im looking at getting an xt, however i cant decide between getting an xt and lowering it and doing the engine work and body work to make it a good looking fast car ( they have 210hp stock). Or if i should just spend all the money in the begining and get an sti? Any thoughts?
wrx's are 2.0 L and the foz stock is just as fast as your wrx was at stock. i promise. get some coil overs and a vf39 swap with a good tune and go eat sti's and save mad stacks.
JeremyClarksonSo much fail in this thread.
Foresters are great cars. They are reliable, are very surefooted and will go pretty much anywhere you point it, whether it be snow, mud or rain. or a combination of all three.
So why in the FUCK would you EVER lower one? Its akin to lowering a truck. So with that said....
....Have fun shelling out a couple grand for the lowering job to be done right.....Or don't, you could instead have fun being a cheapskate and have shit break on you before you even hit 500 miles on your new shitmobile.
Have fun tearing your bumper off, fucking up your exhaust or oil pan by pulling out of the gas station or going over a speed bump.
Have fun not being able to handle any kind of extreme weather/ shitty road conditions.
Have fun looking like a total fuckboy while you do all the above because 99 times out of 100 whatever SUV/truck you've lowered looks like a rolling turd.
/endrant
you have never had a lowered car . and i state again.. coil overs. damn
EllieMaeThe forester and outback are LESBIAN cars and clogs are lesbian shoes.
I don't mod mine or anything, but I have an 04. It had like 111k miles on it, and the alternator died. I diagnosed the problem and installed a new one, saving a bunch of money in the process. It's super easy, so don't hesitate to do it yourself. I've never done anything of that level to a car before. I'm also not a derp. So if you're not a derp and like saving money, do it yourself.
Hngggggg... that thing is hot. 6mt too, man, you've got one nice foz! Are you on the sf forums?
Also... I seriously can't understand why some people hate other people's cars so much. Drive the car you think is fun, mod it how ever you want. I don't care if you lift a lambo or put massive camber on a jeep. If you see someone with pow skis in the park or spinning in to the future, maybe your first thought shouldn't be how stupid he is and how he has no style, but that they're doing something different; something that they think is new or cool.
Of course, I'm a little biased- I just picked up my own JBP 04 XS. Wish it was an XT, but I couldn't justify the potential of constant repairs to an unreliable turbo engine.

Some nice looking fozzies here, keep it up!
i am but not allot, i don't even remember my name on there haha thanks man
guys, why get a xt when you can pick up a jdm yo orginal sti forester that were only in japan, you have to import it unless you can find one but there are a few cruzin around the car meets in australia
Saw this kid at new england forest rally driving through the stage before the race started trying to drift like a rwd car, almost hit massive ditch. Loud ass blow off valve and somewhat gay stretched tires.

they make a forester sport from 2008 that looks like this butttt they are hard to find and they are only xt's not sti's. but still one day... one day.
glad this got bumped, I love my '08 foz XT Sports. Original engine and 5 speed with 53k on it, bought it ~2 years ago in NH with only 29k. Its got a vf43 from an '07 STi, V9 spec C seats, FSTi pink springs, STi genome gauges w/ BNA pod, '02/03 JDM STi scoop
I really wish I had a truck sometimes but everytime I hit even just 5lbs of boost I remember how much I love this car. If my tranny ever blows I wanna swap the 5MT with an STi 6MT
I love my forester and my forester before that. As far as this old as thread is concerned, letting one friend make you not want to buy something is pretty stupid.
As far as the lesbaru deal. Maybe in the cities but even some who fucking cares? I think everyone in my department at the mountain has a pickup, or a subaru other than a honda and maybe something else.
Good cars, lots of space, they'll run for a while, good in snow, they look great.
Also the cars in the OP look dumb. Taking all the things that the car is good for and making sure it will never do any of them.
A forester looks good in general. Your version of "only looks good if done right" is a joke.

foresters are fucking dope, ive always wanted a 2001 forester in forest green. i have a hawkeye wagon and i want more room, might get a forester if i can find the right one.
When you buy a Fozzy, you kind just have to embrace the lesbo limo, once you stop getting salty that people call your car a lesbian limo and realize you have more fun than the non car guy haters they're great. My friends all talk shit about my fozz but everyone knows that shits real deal when you pitch it sideways on an on ramp in a foot and a half of snow with no problem. Here's a picture of my ratchet fozz before my new front bumper goes on. One of the best ski cars of all time no doubt.

Yea this is hilarious that this got bumped. Idk what was goin on when i started this thread. Now i live in the NEK of vermont, drove a dropped legacy for a while which did surprisingly well in the snow. Now i just have a stock 08 g35x. Shit crushes snow.
