2011 vs 2012 Seth Morrison boot

Hello.
A quick note just to gather some info.

Does anybody know of any major differences between the 2011 and 2012 Seth Morrison Full Tilt boot? Furthermore, does anybody know the weight of them? I can't seem to find a reliable stat for their weight on the internet.

evo.com has tech specs for both 2011 and 2012 seth mos. the only difference i can see is the tongue this year is now an 8 flex, as opposed to 10 last year.

couldn't find the actual weight. light as shit? tried them on monday

8 tong instead of 10 tong. The boot really hasn't changed in 40 years...

You realize that full tilt's marketing and sales are driven 95% by a combination of: "can't teach an old dog new tricks," "OMFG my idol __pro skier name here__ rides these they must be the motha fucking tits!" and "get full tilts." that leaves 5% of their sales comming from people honestly looking for the right ski boot. There is nothing wrong with this, as there will allways be those to whom fashion outweighs function (or most commonly fit!), and some dogs just can't be taught new tricks.

The #10 tong is pretty damn stiff. I honestly think it is to stiff for the majority of skiers out there. If you put a skier in a boot that is to stiff, they will end up in the back seat everytime they try and drive the boot.
My guess as to why so many people opt for a stiffer boot is because they have been told that a stiffer boot 'performs better.' Others tend to do it to compensate for having a poor fit, or just meh boot design. I used to be one of those people. I skied a 135 Lange Plug. Last year I skied on a boot that was ~115 on the same scale. I doubt I will ever go back to the stiffer end of boots.

I applaud FT for switching to the 8 tong. I think it was the right move, and if you still have an ego to fill you can get a 10 tong and put it on...

^^^very true but I'm going to say that seth is one skier who would be fitted for that 10 tongue. Maybe not though maybe that's why its changed because Seth wanted it. My point is though that someone sees Seth ski, and they skis in a similar fashion then they're gonna want a boot that will perform in that way. At the end of the day you're right that people that buy the boot are buying it because it says seth on it not because they're gonna use it the same way seth does

Most 'pro' skiers do not ski on 'stock' product. Also, just because a pro skier wants it, and it works for them, does not mean it is a good idea for public sale. Honestly how many people who buy the Seth boot are 5'7" ski really fat down AK lines and huck flips off 40-100+ ft cliffs?
The Seth Morrisons of this world do not buy ski boots.

That's why I made the point that there are some out there but that majority are buying it because it says seth not because they ski like Seth

i bought them because the shop I went to was out of the first chairs in my size, and at the time they were the same boot

not everyone buys stuff because of the name on it, most people buying that kind of boot buy it for the performance it offers.

So is the only difference the 8 vs 10 flex tongue?

The only reason I ask, is that I can get a pair of the old boot for pretty cheap, but i dont like buying old tech, especially if the new model has marked improvements.

If the weight is more or less the same, and the boot is more or less the same, im gonna plump for the older model (probably buy a softer tongue for it though!). I also prefer the graphics on the old one!

do it. follow your heart. i'm buying a pair of konflicts and will probably have a 10 tongue for my bigger days

in case the 10 tongue isn't stiff enough for those of you out there, you can buy a size or two bigger #10 tongue to increase the stiffness. that's what seth does :)
