im calling early opening, due to the face that there is already quite bit of snow at the top and its suppose to keep coming. So, yea, IM FUCKIN STOKED!!
theyll open early. only under fucking extreme circumstances of bareness (3 seasons ago) do they stick to forecasted opening. im calling thursday the 17th
Im going to guess that it will open by the 10th of Nov. There is a 2 week period either side of the 24th that they can open. Looking at the snow on the mountain today Im thinking it will be early.
Sure there is good stuff, but you cannot compare the scale of the terrain in the Whistler/Pemberton area to say the LCC backcountry, it's not even close.
lol, kid makes thread about being stoked about Whistler opening soon and people come on to bash whistler, ill be arriving on the 26th for the second season in a row, so fucking keen to shred the the biggest resort in north america again!! and if you had spent a season working in whis you would know why there is so much hype
last year on whistler the max snow accumulation was over 50 ft, what slc resort beat that?
for arguments on quality see the best powder thread, personally i think 10% (whistler) seems good, thick enough that you wont plow into a boulder off a drop and fluffy enough be able to fly through it.
light is only good to a point. In the northern interior, snow blows right off the ground till its bare and all of the snow is stuck in the first 30ft of trees.
fo opening week end ? not really. blackcomb is closed, and the mountain is filled with posers in 3K $ worth of gear. just wait a couple weeks til blackcomb is open :)
