I don't see how anyone besides hippies can even consider the Manhattan Protest. I feel that it's just a bunch of uneducated people that just realized oh shit i need to actually make some money, but since i didn't do shit there's no hope for that. They want the government to pay for everything which would increase taxes which most of them don't even pay./end rant

In case you are not sure if you qualify for this position, here are some details about the job.

"But as the protest ground on for a 23rd day, it was evident that there were challenges.

Zuccotti Park smelled like an open sewer -- with people urinating and defecating in public.

And some couples have taken advantage of the free condoms distributed by organizers to do the nasty in full view of other protesters.

“It kinda makes me think of what Woodstock must have been like,” said one protester, Sarah, 19 from the Upper West Side.

“I haven’t hooked up with any guys ... but one of my friends did have sex in a tarp with a guy last night.”

The free chow offered to protesters was boosting the crowd.

“People say they are here for the cause, but the real reason is the free food,” quipped Cameron, 26, of Jersey City.

“On my third day, they had smoked salmon with cream cheese. You know how much smoked salmon is a pound? Sixteen dollars. I eat better here than I do with my parents!”

Many of the protesters said they are here for the long haul -- and predicted trouble if cops try to clear the park.

“When the weather starts getting cold, we’re already talking about bringing tents in here,” said Robert, 47, of Pennsylvania. “I’m not going anywhere.

“I lost my job of 22 years, and someone has gotta pay,’’ he said. “Civil disobedience is something we may need to keep this site occupied. If everyone does it at once, the cops won’t be able to do anything.”

Three protesters took their sleeping bags and tried to camp out on Wall Street near Nassau Street last night. When police told them to move, one demonstrator, Zachary Miller, 20, from California, was arrested for disorderly conduct, cops said.

At one point yesterday, a speaker from Washington, DC, told protesters how to break out of zip ties and handcuffs in case they get collared.

The protest vet, Ryan Clayton, 30, demonstrated how use a bobby pin to spring the cuffs open -- while claiming he was “not encouraging people to break out of restraints.”

Just mace the shit out of them, honestly the laws that hold our policemen back from effectively doing their jobs today are ridiculous, every move they make they have to be conscientious of how likely they are to be sued for 'police abuse' or some bullshit like that. This protest would die down pretty quick with the help of some tear gas and rubber bullets for the really disorderly.

im pretty sure that's not what they are protesting about, in portland it was because bank of america now charges 5 bucks a month to have an account and that while people on wall street are billionaires, the average man(the other %99) are getting poorer

Hahah I read this this morning. Apparently Labor unions and the left have been doing this for years. Both paying people and bribbing the homeless (how classy). I I also know the Soviets did this in Estonia when they were attempting to throw off the yoke of communism through peaceful protest. The soviets moved in huge groups of Russian civilians and payed there rent and gave them sty pens to move there and vote/protest against the indepence movement. Pinkos hahah. Just proves they can't spark a credible organic movement so they have to hire bums and college hipsters.

I was stuck in hours of truck yesterday beacuse these worthless fucks decided to walk from the financial district in Boston to Charlestown yesterday and threatened to close down a main bridge...at 4:00 in the fucking afternoon as everyone was trying to get home..I would be all for a little police brutality

I heard they are protesting for equal rights for transgenders yesterday.  There is legislation to have medicare cover the costs for transgender procedures.  What a great way to spend tax dollars!! 

I watched Giraldo on Sunday, live from the protests.  I thought it was funny that Russell Simmons was joining the protesters when he himself owns a debit-card business.  What a joke. 

Someone get Nancy Palosi off the crack pipe.  Obama too.  Their encouragement of these protests will come back to bite them in the ass.

holy shit i am so tired of people generalizing about the opposite side of the political spectrum that they are on with one stupid example, then building a ridiculous straw man argument out of it.

i am a liberal who is planning (somewhat begrudgingly) to vote for obama again. and i agree with you that this is stupid, its pathetic to pay people to protest, and those people are lazy. now can we actually talk like real intelligent human beings again and acknowledge that, scattered between the immense bullshit, there are a lot of protestors with legitimate concerns?

I've been working since I was 14, have never been unemployed since I was 18, paid for myself to go to college with limited help from my parents, I've graduated and now work full time while going to grad school at night - which I am paying for

fuck you protestors, stop whining and do something with your life instead of blaming other people

I typically agree with almost all your post, they're pretty annoying. But I have to say this whole Occupy (insert city) doesn't have any clear objectives. Raise taxes on people who have worked for their money?

This is what I don't like, since when do people "deserve" these things, what happened to people working for their money and their livelihood? I feel like this younger generation feels entitled to the money businesses and the rich are EARNING, no, go get a job and work for your money.

Are this many people seriously against all of what's going on right now? I'll admit I don't understand a ton of what's going on, just like everyone else, because a lot of what they're saying is vague. Also I definitely understand the feeling that some of this is bullshit, protesting just to protest stupidness.

But it seems like what's going on is that people are upset that the head honchos on Wall Street took big risks in the past decade with no consequence on themselves, and with all the fall landing on the middle and lower classes. The top business people of Wall Street have reported they're making just as much or more this year in salaries and bonuses, while everyone else is in trouble.
