Freestyle Backcountry Binding Setup

Hey guys, I am currently riding on some CoreUPT Candide Pow 186cm, and I was wondering where I should mount the bindings on them for a freestyle backcountry use? (true center, or behind center around -1.5, -2cm) I ride a lot in switch but would mounting them true center ruin the performance in pow? (ski has a 102mm waist). I am 6"1' and 180lbs. Thanks

-2 from true, close enough to center to ride switch, far enough back to not get constant tip dive

Agree with balto. -2 seems to be the sweet spot for me as well.

How do you like the CoreRupt skis?

Ya know after thinking about it, you should take the time to do some measurements. I don't know the specs on that ski but I would try to take a look at actual running surface in relation to true center. If the rise in the rocker is symmetrical than your all good at -2. But if there's more rise in the tips than tails you need to understand that if say there's a difference of 2 between the rise in the tip as opposed to the tail, mounting at -2 will actually ski like a center mount. What I do is lay the ski on a flat surface and put some weight on it(especially if it has an underfoot camber). Then take a tape measure and best ya can by eyeball measure where the actual running surface contact points are in relation to the actual length of the ski. So as I said above. If there's say a difference of 2 in the tips compared to the tails, you may want to mount at -4 of true center. Does that make sense?

Yeah that makes sense. I talked to some people from CoreUPT and they told me the recommended setup is at -3cm (I heard thats where Candide Thovex positioned his on this ski but I am not a 100% sure) so I might go with that. And I love those skis, great performance/price value and a good all-mountain ski.
All times are Eastern (-5)
