Help me, stereo nerds!

I was just wondering, if I was going to connect my computer to my stereo through the headphone jack on my laptop and the Aux.-in jacks on my stereo (I already have the right cable), to get the best sound quality should I crank up the volume on my computer and turn down the volume on the reciever, or the other way around, or maybe should I just put both volumes in the middle? I have no clue, and anyone who can help me will get a shiny nickle for their trouble.
(ps- does the volume setting on the iTunes program itself matter too?)

play around with it. the higher you turn the volume up on the amp the more noise you'll get. so find a good lever to get out from the comp then figure it out.

i recommend turning up the volume on the laptop all the way and then messing with the volume on your computer, thats what i've always done and it always seems to sound best.

id use the volume on the comp at the highest, and adjust the reciever volume, it'll give you the purest sound, cause the high volume is coming from the original source, not from a reciever jacking up the sound sercondary (if that makes any sense)

It depends- generally you'd probably want to have the laptop volume somewhere in the middle, but if you play with it you'll find the setting you like.

take the audio converter and run a analog top-set and drop your volumizing ration on your laptop to a good .006
that should do it

you want to have both in the middle. then, to boost the volume, turn both up at the same time. less distortion and that fuzzy noise shit.
