Advice on length of Skis?

When chosing skis how long should the skis be in popartion to you?

personal preference mostly, chin/mouth is what i would consider short, and over my forehead would be towards the long end. Because the back isn't on the snow, you get them longer, but honestly with all the new tech, the "rules" have changed a lot. Go to a shop, tell a guy there how u ride and whatt you have now, likes and dislikes, and then they can usually do a good job of finding the right ski for you. Don't be afraid to ask questions either, its their job, and in my experience they love talking to someone and helping them find great gear

There is no set equation on what proportion your ski length should be to your height/weight. What you should be considering is what type of ski you are looking for.
But first, give us your information. Height, weight, experience level, terrain, etc. Additionally what were you looking for these skis to do for you? Strictly park? Strictly pow? All mountain? All of these factors will have a big effect on what length will be ideal for you.

Sorry to thread jack and stuff..

I'm 5'10", 150ish pounds, type 3+ skier, ski quite a bit of park, but also everything else on a daily basis

Would 166 or 171 be a better fit

between those two, 171 would be better. but then again im the same as you and i ride 178.

definitely a 171, i'm your height and riding 171s this season and they're on the verge of being a tiny bit too small. try for a mid 170's ski

Go head height IMO. Ski sizes are kind of hard to go by. For example a 174 cm k2 ski is almost as long as a line 178 cm ski.

yeah, i was going to be on 174's but that didn't work out. i got a pair of 171s for 90 shipped so i was like ehhh whatever. plus 8-10 centimeters is like 2-2.5 inches, really not that much.
