How do people decide on a shitty job? I'm not talking about like an eighteen year old kid working at MacDonald's, I mean like the 45 year old man who's a certified abortionist and has been doing so for 20 years. I mean did he wake up one day and just go, "I think I'll enroll in classes and learn how to be an abortionist."

At a part time job i worked at for a few years i worked alongside a couple who owned a funeral home and did all the corpse prep stuff. It was kinda funny cause they were so desensitized to it, and were really funny, normal, happy people...they just did a job no one else wanted to do.

how is being a doctor that can perform abortions a terrible job?

a.) that would be mean you're an obstetrician/gynecologist which a very well paying job.

b.) by performing abortions for people who need them you are doing them a huge service that prevents them from carrying a huge burden that they can't handle and aren't ready for

plus abortions aren't only performed cause you don't want a kid. also i opened this thread and expected to see why do like 45 year old people pick really porr jobs that have low pay? probably cause they're not qualified for anything else. world needs ditch diggers.

no matter what the job is, somebody is bound to hate it
some people probably think "why the hell would anyone want to ski for a living?"

personally i feel this way about pretty much any and all sedentary jobs

One of my good friends intern'd at a Mortuary right out of highschool and after a year there went down to Mass to mortician school. He's 20 so people look at him funny but he's got a good reason for picking the odd profession

idk what you are talking about.

i just know that i was a dishwasher for some years over summer and i guess some jobs arent as bad as most people perceive it from the outside. i would also say that a lot of jobs with high social status arent all that great. like being a broker and going crazy because you handle millions of dollars every day and have to worry about stock exchange courses 24/7 (actually, a lot of bankers/finance people have to retire early for psychological reasons).

or a doctor who has to work 60-70 hours a week.

different people like different stuff and of course everybody wants to earn a lot of money, but there are more things going into choosing your job.

some people get into shitty jobs because they need money, and then stick with it as it becomes familiar and you gain a little seniority.

it's the same reason i keep going back to working at shops. it's familiar territory, and i always get managerial positions and get to make my own hours and that sort of thing. shitty job, not the greatest pay, but it's something, and sometimes 'something' is what you need to pay the bills..

I heard that 1\10 doctor kill himself cause its a really high stress job

and there is a lot of person who actually do a job just for the money instead of doing it because they like it.and I personally better like a job with low salary that i enjoy everyday then hating my job while winning over 100k a year.

on the german wiki (didnt look on the english one) page of suicide, it states that suicide rate of doctors is 3,4 times higher than the average and even 5,7 times higher for female doctors.

so true, i am currently on a master program and its full of people that are so ambitious its almost embarrassing. like they never leave the building, dont have a life and just go for that money in 10-30 years.

and the worst of it that they sacrifice love, family and friends and themselves.

i would shoot myself if i was 60 and woke up one day and i would have a beautiful woman i dont love (because i dropped my true love for moving away for a better job) and who has betrayed me for 30 years because i wasnt at home. i would weigh 250 pounds because i dont do any sports. the last time i saw a tree was in a magazine. i have never seen my kids more often then 5 times a month and they became complete tools because they "had everything".

i know i know, a little extreme scenario. i am not a hippy or so (as evidenced by my participation in an economics master). but there is SO FUCKING MORE to life than money, its not even funny, and i downright HATE how everybody is all about the money.

From a business stand point, yeah it's a great job. I'm talking about the feeling of taking a person out of another person. I'm not against abortion in any way, and I'm certainly not conservative.

I'm so sick of people saying idiotic things like this. If two people made the mistake of having unprotected sex, they need to man the fuck up and take responsiblilty for their actions or put it up for adoption. Every child has the right to a future. No exceptions. Yea ok the girl is pregnant for nine months. Well that's her fault.

my ex girlfriend had an abortion.

she is 15 im 16 worst decision we ever made was having sex, we used a condom and everything, but sometimes the unexpected happens, and without that doctor to perform the surgery many lifes would have been fucked up

when you are the subject of controversy your view point of alot of controversial shit changes because you realize how helpful some of the people in the world are. And you feel bad for all the shit they have to take for it

You still could have put the baby up for adoption and everything would have been forgotten, a child could have a future and a family that can't have children can have a child to raise.


as for rape victims, it should be there choice, but if I were to advise them i'd suggest adoption.

It's just my opinion, calm down, i can say whatever i want. and why would you ever want ANYONE to be pregnant as a teen thats a horrible thing to say. AND how do you know that I've not had any expierience with this?!? Last year a friend of mine was pregnant and she put the baby up for adoption, and she seems pretty happy to me. As well as two aquaintances keeping there babies.

My dad has what a lot of people would consider a pretty terrible job.

He takes apart small crashed air planes and the company he works for sells the parts and so forth.

Part of the job is working with insurance companies and telling them how and why the people died. As in the seatbelt ripped their body in half and blah blah blah. So yeah, my dad sees a lot of really disturbing stuff.

Why he does it: He can't do a desk job anymore. He had one for about 20 years and realized he hated it that much. First hands on job that he found that paid well enough was that one. Now he quite enjoys traveling around the country, working outside, staying fit. He just has to encounter dead people (at least their blood) on a semi regular basis.

not to sound creepy or disturbed or anything, but that sounds like a really cool/interesting job, i know it's sometimes sickening, but overall i bet it beats most of the "regular" jobs out there!

In WW2 my great-grandpa was in the navy and his job was to clean up ships that had been attacked by kamikazes. It made for some disturbing stories but he was responsible for bringing back husbands, sons, dads, to their families for a proper burial.
