Read that, I wanted to so bad back in the day and I still want to try it. Shops are not fond of the idea at all.
There are many benefits that I see from it: more even flex (heel pieces generally have a longer pattern), better skiing switch, easier butters/ easier to get up on the tips, more tail to grab, etc.
These aren't going to be substantial benefits, but it's all about preference. Also, think about your pivot point when you are spinning, it is not the center of your foot, it is based off your legs, so basically your "pole" if oyu will is in your heel, but due to stance and forward lean when you are skiing it is directed towards the center of your foot a bit. There are arguments for both sides, the curious one then the ones that are not willing to see any justifications.
