Are Surface Skis Good?

I got a pair of 2011 Surface Next Time but I dunno if it is a good ski.

Surface skis are amazing. The best most fun, poppy ski ont he market. Super durable super reliable, you should always buy surface, causewell and joystick, as well as smith optics and come to gates and boards in barrie.

Having drilled a pair or two myself, I have to say that they have the lowest quality cores in the industry. Cool shapes and the such, but damned low quality wood and foam

Live Life 2s, one lifes, nine lifes, etc. Admittedly I've only skied them a handful of times, but I'd have to argue that they use lower quality materials than others. I'd love to try some of the new ones though and see how they feel. Also, having recently moved to SLC, the vibe I've definitely gotten is that the people that rep them and love them get hooked up and overall they don't have an enormous amount of respect up the canyon. I'm just stating what I've seen. No blind hatred intended.

Admittingly their park skis from the last years are very flexy they could possibly break buhh I fuckin love the skis! They are great. And this yr they feel a lot more durable than the past years... Also I would have gotten double times... Cuz they are stiffer. Their pOw skis fucking rip the shit outta everything. I say drop being a poser park rat and go rip those gnarly lines that even park skiers see and say 'holy shit brah that was fucking amazing.... Wish I could do that shit'

Their park skis aren't so hot. The cores are shitty and the ski might not hold up depending on how hard you ski park and urban.  But I have heard that their powder skis are dope. Haven't tried em yet but I have some friends that love em.

I worked at a shop, ya know did that whole thing.

You are a very combative person by god. I even said I was open to trying them....I mean a reputation for crappy construction doesn't blossom from no where.....jusssssst saying.

my buddy (6'1" probably 240) snapped some ninelifes at the beginning of last season. he sent them back and then they sent him two new pairs, ha so at least they're good about replacing them. and he's been on them since no problems

But you haven't argued it? You haven't presented one shred of proof, apart from you saying it bad quality materials, which is hardly proof. I'm not saying they aren't bad quality, i'd just like to see some proof behind a statement like that.

well i was at the mt snow small park once, and i was talkin to this guy. he went up to jib a box, and they fell into two pieces. he said never too buy surface skis. i took his advice. U may choose too too

full tilts break all the time but are the most popular boots here...

dont dismiss a ski company coz you saw someone break one of them once. im on my 3rd pair of libertys, bent both skis inthe frist pair i had then on the 2nd snapped one on half. i still love liberty and give em a good rap, especially for their warranty

I have some going into third season on them on some watchlifes and i love them. I dont spend the majority of my time in the park so my skis have held up great and kill it. I love them grat all mountain ski. For those who say they tend to break....i feel like thats coming from people who spend 100% of there time in the park bashing them on rails and hard jump landings. obviously skis will break

I'm no Surface hater, i know nothing about them, the skis, or the company...just reading a thread.

The main thing is, every company gets haters, and not every ski works for every skier...I'm sure Surface can be a blast to ski on...and I'm sure sometimes they break..

The problem I see is people take their very limited experiences and very form strong opinions based on circumstance.

Most of surface's skis are really good quality, but from reviews I've heard from a lot of people that the next times are super fun light and well designed but they break HELLA easy

They've had problems with their park ski in the past, but everything has been beefed as and made more durable. I've destroyed skis before, usually in under a season. Yet my Surfaces are the first ski thg have lasted for longer than one season. They make amazing skis. Don't let sonethhvg that happened a couple of seasons ago with one park ski give you a false idea on te company

Precisely. They put out one bad BUDGET model last year, and kids got upset and badmouthed them on the internet and claim all their skis suck, which is odd because they make some of the most durable skis in the industry.

I've been a shop tech for a while and in my experience Surfaces are some of the most well-built skis, up there with ON3P and Atomic. They used foam cores for the Watch Life like 4 years ago or some shit, but now it's all wood baby. I know a lot of kids came in with broken 9 Lives, but they seem to have fixed the durability since now their park skis are made with the same construction type as their pow skis, which is BURLY.

Here's an opinion: I'm 6'2' 180lbs and I've been skiing the same pair of Live Life 2s for 4 years, and I've done everything from rails, BC, even skiing down asphalt parking lots. Not a single edge crack, just scratched bases/topsheets.

It's just been there 9 life's and some No Times. Other cases are from old skis and people who like to Complain. I've snapped Thugs before, but you dont see me tearing a new one in Atomic or holding it against them
