What are some things you realize only once you're in college?

Pretty much.

Homework piles up.
Age doesn't matter for meeting people any more.
Food isn't necessary 3 times a day.
A basement can make an alright home.
There is always time for drinks.
Unless she really means something to you, high school relationships stay in high school.
Money is important.

People should watch for people on bikes before they pull onto the road/turn right at an intersection. My 75$ bike almost put a nice dent in some high school kids car, I was actually kind of disappointed when I managed to stop in time. I also realized going into college right after hs was a really good idea.
Just curious, how much money do you guys expect to making right out of college? I'm taking a two-year environmental technician course, and after that I will most likely be started out at about $32,000 a year, not really sure where I would max out at, really depends on where I end up job wise and how good i am at what I do really.

very. no one takes any initiative. if the professor doesn't tell them specifically it's on the exam, it just won't be studied. it's becoming to be like highschool in that regard. I was talking about it with a professor and apparently it's beginning to be quite the worry. ask your parents or grandparents if it was like that in their years. in Ontario apparently it can be greatly attributed to getting rid of grade 13

The course is useless when what youre being tested on requires you to memorize 30 different forms and functions that your professor and TAs dont know offhand.

BASEMENT LIVIN FTW!

I live in a house with three other skiers and they took the three first floor bedrooms and left the entire finished basement for me. the basement + my bedroom is the same size as the entire first floor of the house and i pay the same rent. what a bunch of fucking idiots. Plus I have my own bathroom, living room, work room (think ski/bike shop) and office. so much win.

Books are your best friend, learn to read them well. If you do the reading before lecture, it will make life a whole lot easier. If you get the chance, try to schedule no class on Fridays, best thing ever.

classes can be scheduled around skiing

you can fit 2 30s in a mini fridge if you work it right

i don't know what kind of mini you have, but i can fit exactly 59 beers in mine, which is cool, because i need one to drink while stocking.

Buy digital versions of your textbooks on Coursesmart.com. They are half the price, and when you're done with them you can simply delete them instead of having to try and sell them back for pennies or recycle them. You can access the entire book online, or print out certain pages.

The price of my textbooks for a full schedule = $126.

or use craigslist, amazon, and ebay to buy books you can actually keep.

i spent about 150 on 900 dollars of text. i can sell them to the school library and get about 300 out of them, but i'd rather keep them as reference material.

1.coffee, energy drinks, coffee, coffee, coffeecoffeecoffee

2. you can choose when your classes are for the most part, try and make your life easier and choose classes close to eachother near the same time so your day isnt ruined with a 8:30am class then no other classes until 4 pm and your at school from 8-6

3. no one gives a fuck about you. going with that, never fully trust anyone unless they deserve it

4. do drugs and drink on friday night so your not hungover monday

5. the guy disrupting class and fucking shit up that was so cool in highschool is now considered by everyone to be an asshole

6. actually listen to stuff profs have to say. any idiot teacher can pass a high school teachers degree, profs have real life experience an have done rediculous amounts of research into there field.

7. make friends with people in your program in older years, they know the projects, they know your profs they can help you.

8. did i mention coffee?

I'm with two other skiers. One's a uni grad. So he works 12 hours a day, and the other is online right now. And does uni.

well, i'm in petroleum and natural gas engineering and i plan on starting out around 70-80k.

the kids at the top of the class will no doubt be getting 120+

here's to hoping i make it through school.

well in the same turn college professors don't need a teaching degree so some of them have no idea how to teach. Some colleges hire profs based solely on their research efforts because of some accreditation and the students get screwed over because the prof is a terrible teacher.

pretty much bang on what i was going to write.

exspecially 3. all that popularity you spent all of highschool trying to earn, goes right out the window first day of university. no one knows you, and no one gives a fuck who you think you are. and suddenly, there is more nerds then "cool kids", kinda like a revolution. its actually quite funny to watch the fall of the "cool kids". i always kinda flew under the radar at university, till it was time to present/write test/talk to profs etc. then its shit kicking time. People dont expect anything of you cause youre the shy/quite/mind your own fuckin business guy. then boom, you blast their minds.

also, separate your school work from your party work. word travels fast. its cool to throw down and get awesome. but you dont need your profs and TA's knowing. they wont wake you seriously, and trust me, you want them to know/think you are the next president of the united states.
