Jim Rippey. Former pro snowboarder/sledneck/base jumper. Tahoe dude who was definitely up on the McConkey scale in terms of craziness. Anyways, a couple of my co-workers who knew him during his rad days were talking about him today so I looked him up. This dude was wayyy ahead of his time, take a look at the video!

Anyways, he's a super die hard pastor at a church now haha. Pretty wacky if you ask me. Anyone else know anything about this dude? I think I remember seeing a clip of him in High Society a few years back backflipping a sled. I think he was the first one to do it? Anyone else have any info on the dude? He's pretty rad. Definitely watch the video, especially the ending part.

Back in 94 when I was livin at Killy Jim used to hang out at our condo quite a bit for parties, etc whenever he was around....at the time he and one of my roommates ride for the same company. Super cool guy and he used to rip even back then. Don't think he was at full fledged pro status yet back then. But he did rip(no pun intended). I remember doin the toilet bowl and powerlines with him(before they were official runs) and he would friggin charge that shit. Being the only skier in our group I was usually first down and waiting on everyone else but not with Jim. He beat me to the bottom everytime. Funny cause I've always wondered what happened to alot of the peeps we used to hang with but a preacher? Wow.....all I know is once he got big we hardly ever saw him again. He was touring and shooting alot though.

Yeah dude that was a crazy season....there was like 3-4 peeps in our group of friends that went on to become big deal snowboard pros. Kinda funny to think about how different things were. Back then the terrain parks were snowboarders only. I was the only skier in our group of friends so I would have to charge through the parks and pipe and then get away clean without gettin caught. They would yank your pass for that shit. Lol.
