Alpine touring bindings

I know I should have searched longer.

I am in need of some expertise.

I currently use the alpine trekker adapters as I am fearful of charging on marker dukes.  I have grown accustomed to the bullet proof consistency which the fks bindings have provided me for life.

-  I have been told that the new Marker F12 (new dukes?) are good.

-  I have also been informed that the Dynafit TLT Vertical FT Z12 Binding are super solid.

I am looking for a touring binding that can hold up high speed charging in variable/hard/shitty conditions(plan for the worst, hope for the best).  As well as stand up to pillow lines and 40ft drops.

What are your experiences?

What is my best bet?

I know I am asking a lot for a touring binding, my friends just tell me to buy a f*(king sled...

Why don't you think the Dukes would be a good option? But the F12 instead? They're just a lighter version...

I've also heard good things about Dyanfits but only have a DIN to 12, though they do lock out.

I would just go with the Dukes or MFD's

and search longer there are tons of these threads

New atomic binding ? Saw of picture of them on facebook. But your best bet would be MFD or dukes like Benks mention above.

^no, Salomon is currently developing a new "Duke Killer" Also look into Plum Guide tech bindings

apparently so is Atomic, but these looks a lot like what we've seen from Salomon

Atomic = painted Salomon

Just look at their FFG bindings. Despite a different spring (lower minimum DIN) in their higher end binding, it's just a Salomon STH with different paint.

The Salomon/Atomic binding does look interesting though, should be cool to hear more about them as this season progresses.

the toe has me a bit worried, i hated that style toe on the dukes/jesters, but salomon is known for making better bindings then market so hopefully they will make it work.

Agreed.

I had Jesters for one season and I will never ride a Marker binding again. I had so much lateral play in the toe and an incessant squeaking that drove me crazy. I know others had similar issues using Dalbello boots too. Regardless if they have fixed the issue or not, I won't ever use Marker again. I never want to question my bindings ability to keep me locked in or not.

Definitely looking forward to more competition for the Duke. Too bad the Salomon/Atomic binding won't be released this year.

Couldn't agree more. I loved marker race bindings (18+ without the biometric toe), so I was very disappointed the first time I rode a royal family binding. During the time I had viciks, I had dukes on them and hated not being able to push the ski for fear of stepping out of the binding(even at a high din, I did this a few times in not so good of locations).

Dukes are great if you are a recreational skier who wants to take a nice easy skin on a spring day, but if you ride hard at all, they are terrifying.

meh, plenty of my friends shred hard on dukes with no problem. and for 175, I'm not too worried about it

for the most part recreational skiers aren't using 16 din bindings. enough people kill it on dukes including guides and IFSA competitors so there's no issue with the binding design.

marker still makes the comp race binding so if you love it so much why not just keep using it?

Actually that's not true, the Atomic bindings have the same DIN settings as the Salomon ( 9-16).
I don't know why they keep stating that it's lower.

I was just going off the information on Atomic's website. Which I just noticed they seem to have changed since the last time I looked.

After browsing some online shops, I see the FFG16 is listed of having a DIN range of 9-16, same as the STH16.

Well, that just proves my point even more so, Atomic = painted Salomon.

I would say it depends on how much touring you're planning on doing. If its just sidecountry I would go with the dukes, but if your going for longer tours I would definately check out the dynafit radical ft's. I have demoed them last year and liked them so much I got a pair. They'll both have no trouble standing up to charging hard.
