Not much of a deal for the iPhone 4. $99 for 8GB whereas it is only $199 for 16GB with the 4S. I guess that depends if Siri is on the iPhone 4.

"Siri is a feature of the iPhone 4S, so unfortunately it won't come as part of a free update. Whether it requires the A5 processor or Apple just wants another reason to get you to upgrade is unknown, but either way current iPhone users are out of luck. Hopefully we'll see Siri come to other iDevices in the future."

might sell my iphone 4 and pick this up, good thing I used my mom's upgrade to get my current iphone, mine is up in a week

i don't play games at all on my phone tho, so the 7x faster gpu won't really do much for me. The 8mp camera would be nice, and the voice recognition would be very useful, especially the voice to text for driving

I love reading all the over the top reactions to this. I find it hilarious how people feel cheated and disappointed by Apple...like it was their spouse and it stopped putting out or something. What else were you expecting from a phone that already does fucking EVERYTHING?!?!?

Its faster, its camera got bumped up, its now a world phone, antenna improvements, plus it has the first real innovation in voice commands since voice commands came out. They essentially did everything to upgrade the 4.

People who buy Apple products for their spec's or hardware are fucking morons. I buy them for their customer care, quality, and software. My MBP got water damage to the point where it wouldn't turn on, it would of costed me $900 to repair it, Apple covered it anyways even though it was required on any of their warranties. Pretty much made me a life long customer.

O yea and I have a droid x, so many fucking bugs with this phone it blows my mind, can't wait to get ride of it.

i was really hoping for some new hardware. it seemed to be a whole lot of hype by apple for just a small processor upgrade. phones have been dual core for a while now.

still will check it out, but also am keeping an eye on windows phone mango

I was looking the the iOS 5.
The features that are available now sound like a pretty good upgrade. I just don't see the point of upgrading your phone by one model, when you can just download a new operating system that has almost everything the 4S comes with.

last time my pc broke, i tossed it in the fuckin trash. last time i dropped my mbp, i took it into the store and got a new one.

apple might not be leading the way in spec's, but they are leading the way in being super crazy awesome.

i'm really sitting here chuckling about how let down everyone is, apple's stock dropped 3% -14 bucks or something like that, because it was a 4s and not a 5, when after most announcements their stock goes up, apple let the hype get away from them, they should have just released it like a few months back and get the hype out of the way

it's about time for my upgrade, so i'll get it, but the hardware upgrades mean pretty little to me, it's just ios5 i care about. imessenger, notifications, wireless sync, it's going to be awesome. having a gorgeous phone that's blazing fast is just going to be a bonus.

not to mention NO BUGS in iOS. Try saying that for android which has to be constantly retooled for every different phone that uses it = huge pain the in the/room for errors

apple could collectively take a shit, mash it all together, cut it into iphone shapes, and put it to market. no one (except feces lovers) would buy one, and they would still not loose stock value or go bankrupt.

Apple already has the tech to make their phones much better than they already are. They are milking the old technology to make more money. Ideally, they want all of their customers to own each phone they come out with: 3, 3GS, 4, 4S. It is the same thing with iPods. There is no reason why they can't have a 250 or a 500 GB iPod (which I need because I have 400 GB of music thanks to FLAC). There is a market for a vast upgrade to the iPhone 4 but once they do that, they marginalize their lesser products to a much greater extent. I don't feel "cheated;" it is a legitimate business move. I was just hoping that they would continue to make the leap in phone tech.

luckily for me one of my phone lines is up for an upgrade now and my other will be up in 6 months so I can get the 4s now and use it until the 5 comes out!


4s sounds tight but whats up with no 4g yet??

I have an iphone 4 and am so stoked for iOs 5 especially having the camera on the lock screen to take nip slips quick!

$99 for one is a fucking STEAL with all you can do too.

Siri sounds sweet too!

Except for the fact that NO ONE makes a 250gb/500gb 1.8" HDD. Don't talk about shit you clearly don't understand.

Cool apple uses "old" hardware by some of your standards, IOS/OSX are more efficient with using that hardware. And guess what, apple is still going to sell more 4S's then any other non ios device on the market. People buy apple products because they work, they work very well. have I ever had a problem with any of my ipods/iphones? Nope, how about my macs? Not really. On top of that, apple's build quality is light years ahead of most of the "competition" if you could even call them that. if im dropping 200$ on a phone, I don't want some hunk of plastic in my pocket, I want a well built device that will last me a long time (assuming I keep good care of it).

There are many reasons why apple is the largest and most valuable technology company in the world, and many reasons why they continue to sell millons upon millions of their products.

except when it comes to laptops and desktops, windows still has them beat by a long shot. apple only has a 10% market share in that specific field. i would say apple definitely makes more of their money off of mobile devices (ipods, iphones and ipads) than they do of their macbooks and macs.

not on ipods, if you don't have a wifi connection on the ipod you won't be able to stream in from the icloud, so storage on the ipods is still critical, but i feel like you're somewhat onto something in the case of iphones and ipads. but what you're not remembering is space to store things like apps and shit.

Kinda...you will still need software to run the hardware and im assuming an OS and some programs/apps. Personally i think iCLoud is too ahead of its time. Most of apples consumers are still accessing their internet through cell networks (although wifi usage is climbing no doubt) and that shit is pricey (in Canada anyways). As someone who uses my phone mostly on a 500mb/month limit cell network internet, i'm no where close to considering streaming everything.

I also agree that apples build quality is top notch. I wasnt a fan with the feel of the early iphones but the 4 is super-duty-awesome and the ipods and ipads have adopted that rugged feel as well. The problem right now isnt that the phone will break before the end of the contract, but that it will die of software updates and newer file types which will render it entirely intact and functioning, but obsolete in the market :/

have been wanting an iphone for a little while, i'll definitely be picking up the 4s when my upgrade is up (which is real soon thankfully). i'm sick of the infinite amount of bugs with my android phone...

also apples build quality as well as customer service (the deal breaker) is amazing. i've had my MBP for 2 years now with not a SINGLE problem. it's just as fast as it was when i bought it and works great. only thing i've had to buy for it was an external HD for my movies.

call me a hipster, trend follower, or whatever, but i've had no problems with a single apple product and will continue to buy their products for a long time. i can't make a statement even CLOSE to that with any other company that offers tech products...

Whoa apple finally is using dual cores and 8mp cameras! But no 4G, kinda pointless. If they would've made a 4gLTE phone for verizon, i might have bought it when i have my upgrade in febuary but looks like ill stick with droids since apple only cares about gimmick features and how the phone looks.

osx lion took 2 weeks to reach the install base that windows 7 took 27 weeks to get
something like 1 in 4 computers sold now is running windows

how many differnt type of macbooks are there? 10? not including individualizing their specs.

how many different types of laptops are on the market that carry windows? hundreds? thousands?

while sure the macbook, and imac, are the best sellers, windows based computers saturate the market and make up the majority sellers, most people are going to go for a $500 dollar laptop with better specs than mac's 1500 dollar version of it.

it's not a new phone, it's the same phone with better parts and an app that you could have downloaded 3 years ago if you really wanted to. the only reason it's even been announced is because that's what Apple (unlike every other company on Earth) does, they make a big fucking announcement every time they release a new product. apparently it works, though.

oh and Apple still has less than a quarter of PC market share so i don't know what that other guy was trying to point out by saying lots of hipsters buy them. they will never take the market. businesses control the market and Apple never has and never will cater to any other company.

You are an idiot, market share doesn't mean shit, obviously they can't have the same install base that PC's have spent 2 decades developing, but currently and for the forceable future, apple is and will continue to dominate the personal computer market until some actual competition steps up and throws them off their throne, which is highly unlikely, seeing as apple controls both the hardware and software, unlike the incredibly fragmented windows/android systems.

Accept the fact that apple IS winning the computer race, hell they could afford to buy out microsoft out right if they wanted to.

i'm not debating that apple is worth MORE than microsoft currently is, that is a well known fact.

and to prove i'm not biased i am in fact writing from a macbook pro at this second.

it's simple fact, while apple is coming up and taking a big share of the market, HP and Dell, still sell more units per quarter than apple, HP is up around 25% of market share, and Dell around 20%

apple does dominate the "premium" spectrum of computer's costing 1k or more, however, due to the fact that windows based PC are now more affordable than ever, you will start to see the windows based pc's start to gain market share again.

slightly disappointed however i have the iphone 4 and dropped it to the bottom of a 16 ft deep pool and after a few days of drying out it still works. quality product. i cant see myself owning anything but an iphone from now on

ahem. HP, Dell, and Acer ALL sell more than twice as much product as Apple's measly 5th place in the PC world, but that's probably because they don't sell their products at 200-300% of what they are worth. i am sure that if HP, Dell, and Acer start selling PCs at Apple prices, everything you just said will come true, but i am also sure that none of those companies will ever do that, and that none of what you just said will ever come true. Apple is not targeting the entire market, they only target people who are willing to spend twice as much on a computer that does half as much (the Grey Goose Vodka market), those people make up less than 25% of the market. Apple makes a shitload of money (because of their high prices (ie. Grey Goose))but they are in no conceivable way actually "winning" at anything.
