Am I the only one who thinks tattoos are unattractive? It seems like everyone I talk to thinks they are sexy and I think they just make people look trashy. Any one else share these thoughts?

Yeah, like one small one on like your wrist,arm,foot/ankle,leg,back,etc is ok IMO, but when people's arms and backs and stuff are covered, that's just plain wierd. Looks stupid.

I can overlook a small, discrete tattoo, but tons of tattoos, or really big ones, is just gross. Do not find any attraction in that what-so-ever.

i've hated tattoos for a long time, and i'd still never get one, but they're sort of starting to grow on me. thing is, i'm the complete opposite. the little foot, wrist or neck tattoos of a butterfly or stars or some shitty line like "love life" or "just breath" annoy the fuck out of me. a tattoo is permanent, it should be something completely unique and beautiful, not some cute drawing picked out of a book or a line that a million other girls got on their sweet sixteen too. if you're getting a tattoo, it should be something deeply personal that has thought and meaning behind it, or, barring that, at least amazing piece of art.

The main thing that puts me off tatoos is of how ugly and stupid they look on the average middle-aged/old person who thought it would be a good idea during their younger years but never thought of what it would look like in their latter years.

if you get a tattoo it has to have meaning. if someone gets like a flower on their chest or a dragon or something just caus eit looks "badass" than its trashy.

I'm not going to be worried about it when I'm 40-60 years old. It won't take away from my marriage, kids, or anything really. It is just a mark on my skin that will just effect appearance, but will still represent an awesome time in my life

I always hated tats but the I have really started to like some on certain people. I have seen some really really nice sleeves done and even though i would never ever conisder getting a sleeve done I still think that the artwork and how it all fits together is awesome. Not so sure about girls but...

Is there a more played out OR judgemental thread on NS than the obligatory tattoo thread though?  There's probably 30 of them.  Basically any tat thread turns into "wow that's so stupid, what about when you're 85" or "myah, when I see a person who has tattoos I judge them immediately, myah" and it's pretty lamesauce imo.  Oh well.  Such is life.  Just a billion ways to judge each other in order to make ourselves feel better about our individually percieved shortcomings or give ourselves some moral pat on the back.  Good for the OP and whoever is awesome enough to roll like that.    

In all honesty...  You gonna tell me this girl isn't hot?   I mean, the ink is a bit much even for my taste to wake up next to every day but dammit she is EN FKN FUEGO.      .

Art is beautiful, and 100% in the eye of the beholder.  Haters gonna hate, and to each his own.  Fuck judging people on what they do with their skin, there's far worse things people can do besides be comfortable with themselves.  Again, all imo.  Take it with a grain of salt.  Or call me a bitch because you can't articulate yourself.

That makes no sense, most companies aren't down with tats. I'm not saying they're a bad thing, but I've worked for a few fortune 500 companies and no tattoos were allowed.

my ex girlfriend wanted to get a tattoo, but i didnt realy like the idea of that because the only thing a tattoo changes about a person is the way they look, and i really think that people are only going to be beautiful if they are born that way. it doesnt matter what clothes, make up, or tats you have, if youre truly good looking youll be good looking without them.

i have sort of considered getting a tattoo before, but I've never come to any sort of conclusion as to what I would want it to be. no matter what I would keep it simple and not add any color or anything. something subtle

I like (good) tattoo art, and I can appreciate the human form, but I think think combining the two is hideous. I've never seen a tattoo that didn't make me think "that looks fucking awful on you."

and to follow up with what i forgot: i dont like it when girls try hard to act sexy. in any circumstance i think its way more attractive if they act like themselves, and tattoos arent part of you. its what you want the rest of the world to see you as, but its different from who she is.

I'll elaborate.  I'm saving money to buy a fleet of demo skis which is expensive.  I don't have a ton of spare money because I've been reinvesting the shit out of my cash earnings into my business.  If I had a big wad of disposable income though, ink would be on the list for sure.  How one can equate being open minded about skin art to me being unsuccessful I have no idea, but I understand the sentiment is pretty common.  If having a big name on a little check (a la entry level position at a Fortune 500 co) makes you successful, our definitions differ and that's all I can say.    

You're absolutely right that white collar companies aren't down with tats though.  It makes it seem ok to judge people based on that too, which is even sadder.  All I'm getting at is if inked skin is the worst thing a person has going for them, they're fine in my book.  Like I said I work in industrial shops and some of the nicest and coolest people I know are tatted up, working hard and making serious cash through skilled tradework, they just love to get inked. 

But I digress.  I'm trying to judge less and love more, bear with me.

Hey man,
Seems like we have a little bit of a misunderstanding. I am not judging anyone. You love tattoos and want more, that is fantastic. If that is what you want then do it. In some, albeit rare cases, tattoos can look great. However, I was just voicing my opinion about them, just like you are voicing yours now. However the key difference is I am not telling you what to think or what to do. I do not appreciate the comment about a hypothetical ex of mine who is having relations with someone with full sleeves. That is not only a total fabrication it is also very rude of you to say. You say to not get a tat and to shut up. Well part of that is good advice, I am not going to get a tattoo, but I am also going to voice my opinions about them whenever I like, in a respectful manner like I have now. Next time please try to be more respectful, the world will thank you.

P.S.
In my option I think the tattoos on those girls made them less attractive tenfold. That is just my opinion.

fair enough, sorry if I got angsty on ya I'm just sick of the same sentiment being reposted over and over and over and over again.  I'm down with individual opinions but people can get downright mean about something that has nothing to do with them.  Again, sorry but man that shit is irking me lately.      

I laughed at the hypothetical ex's relations part though.  Articulation can be hilarious when properly executed.  Well done fine sir.

4 years ago i wouldn't ever have wanted a tattoo and now i'm considering getting one.

as for tattoos on girls, i think that depending on the look they can be extremely hot, or outrageously stupid looking. its really all opinion though.

Basically it's industrial manufacturing.  We make certified high-pressure stainless water tanks/housings for all kinds of companies and applications.  We also help design and outsource product lines and warehousing/shipping for huge companies, as it can cost them way more to do production and store stuff in house if they're union or something like that.  Lol at the kid who thinks I'm unemployed or wouldn't be able to get a job beause of ink tho...  That gave me a real chuckle.  It's hilarious how one dimensional some peoples' perception of success can be.  With my certs I bill at $80/hr in house and $120/hr to travel for welding work, let along consultation, design work and implementation, etc- and I dictate my hours too- so what if I'm not in a shirt and tie?  I'm happy, work hard, get paid well and actually make things I can see and feel.  To me that's winning but to each his/her own.  :)   

Disney?  I wonder if they'd let you rock a mickey mouse tat???  Not that you'd want one mind you...    ;)  

AR6, my tribal dragon face tat would totally storm the shit out of my vajay sandcastle if he could untangle himself from all the barbed wire hahahahahahaha

not a hater of tatoos at all. But i don't find them more attractive or anything like that. people just have different ways of expressing themselves and some people choose to do it through artwork on their body which is a personal choice and if it makes them happy or gives em pleasure then more power to em.
