For those men who drink...a question

so last night I was at work (I was a hostess in a restaurant) and the guy I like came in with a friend. They sat at the bar and ordered some drinks. He had a glass of white wine, his friend had a beer, and they had a hot sake between the two.

my question is: does it "mean" anything when an older guy drinks wine? or is it just the brainwashing belief by tv I have that men only drink beer?

I'm just curious as to what other men/males think of other males who drink something (wine) other than what the media has men drink (beer). if that makes sense

Was this like, a get drunk college type bar or a nice restaurant bar? Cause honestly I don't see what the big deal is about a guy drinking a glass of wine in a bar. I think its silly to assume one is gay because of that. Kinda ridiculous imo. But that's just me.

I only really ever have wine if it's like sharing a bottle on a date or if there are bottles going around the table at dinner.

I would never go to the bar and order a glass of wine and I would only ever bring wine to a party if we were having dinner.

You might want to reevaluate your thought process then. Having a glass of wine at a nice restaurant bar is classy. Wine is an acquired taste, and when he has options to drink anything else, obviously he's drinking it for a reason. Being gay shouldn't even cross your mind. Maybe that's just the 28 year old in me talking....but thinking someone is gay cause they're drinking wine is kind of immature.

what she should be thinking is that this guy is a poser. Who the fuck orders a white at a bar unless you are a 40 year old single woman? I mean damn, if you are going for the classy, worldly look get a real wine- a red wine.


Seriously, why has no one picked up on this yet. I see no problem with him ordering wine(though some good natured ribbing would be in order), the problem is that he ordered a white.

Haha I was going to mention this, but wasn't sure how it would go over in this thread. Red wine is the way to go. White wines are too sweet/fruity for me most of the time.

its the girly version of an already borderline drink.

Its like a guy ordering a pina colada at a bar. It'd be cool if he was on a beach and ordered one, but it just looks silly if a dude orders it at a bar. similar to ordering wine, a chilled white is great when relaxing on a hot summers eve outside, but it is pretty weird for a dude to order a glass of white at a bar...inside. a dude ordering a white at a bar would induce the same snicker from me as if he had ordered a wine spritzer or a glass of arbor mist.

but to each their own, and what someone orders really doesnt tell you much about them, beacause some guys order "manly drinks" just to appear manly and some dudes order "girly drinks" just cause they dont like the taste of alcohol. all a dudes drink says about him is what his taste buds like.

You should mainly be worried about why he was caressing the other dudes hand like that.

I wouldn't read too much into it, but man...I just can't imagine myself sitting at a bar and ordering wine.....ESPECIALLY white. Red Wine? Delicious...perfect with many a meal. White? shit's bile and sickly sweet for the most part, and boring and overly dry when it's the opposite. Kind of weird order, but not necessarily indicative of anything else.

Thats pretty gay because his friend had to make him look bad drinking a beer too. To be honest though couple of my buddies for fun we get liqured off those wine boxes. They are cheap as hell and taste pretty decent. There nothing wrong with a guy drinking wine at all, depends on the situation. but white wine..... pretty gay

I fucking hate Franzia. I have had to shower in a shower full of Franzia vomit because no cleaned it up from the party the night before and i had a test at 8am. It also tastes like a cross between grape juice, water, and beer. Its pretty fucking terrible. but the bladders are clutch to sneak into sporting events.

Honestly I wasn't gonna go there haha. Yes there is a big difference between white and red - and its a little odd that he'd order white, the sissy version. But I didn't wanna place a stereotype on wine.

i drink wine with dinner all the time, if i have a girl over wine is usually present, but if im out with friends or whatever its usually beer at the bar, jack and cokes or cran and vodka all night

it's a bit gay to drink it at a bar IMO but most guys drink wine at other occasions. crushing bottles of wine with girls is a classic for a reason

Though wine is one of the happiest/sloppiest drunks you'll ever get, the hangover sucks.

I'm not a fan of beer, so if I'm at a bar, I won't order one. But wine? eehhhhh that's odd. I'll drink my fair share of wine, but at a bar, something better.

Maybe he is just trying to look sophisticated, REALLY likes wine, or wants some dick. 2 of 3 is pretty good odds for you.

So as others have said, had it been a red wine I wouldn't have questioned it at all, especially at a more upscale bar. I actually enjoy red wines either with a meal or a cigar if I don't fell like having whiskey with it

The white wine makes it a little iffy until you factor in that he was also drinking sake. I personally wouldn't go near a red wine if I was drinking sake at the same time because I think the flavors would mix terribly and the red wine would completely overpower the sake. It's just like pairing food with wine, you want something that will complement the sake, and between most beers and a drier white wine, the white wine is going to complement it better.

drink whatever the fuck you want. if you only drink beer because you're concerned about your image then you're gay. i dont drink hardly at all but whenever i do i tend to drink the fruitiest "gayest" shit ever cause thats all i like. i always get shit from the tool, douche bad bro fucks telling me to man up and drink a beer like it takes fucking balls or something to drink shit my little sister was consuming in 6th grade. if you really feel like your achieving something by drinking a beer/getting drunk, and that makes you a "man" its time to stop with the 7th grade little boy mentality, man the fuck up and find something better to do.

when you go to a lounge and sit at the bar/wood it is homo to order wine. if you're getting food or sitting down for dessert or something then it is socially acceptable to order wine. but it's definitely wrong for a dude to order wine when chillin with another bro at the wood. order a pint......

I love wine, I've never ordered it at a bar with guy friends though. I would also probably never share a sake with another dude, but I've never ordered sake so maybe that's common.

If you're really asking NS to make judgements on this dudes sexuality you'd probably do better telling us what he and said "friend" were wearing rather than drinking.

But really there is a simple straight forward way to find out if he's gay you know. You could hit on him and tell him you're interested of course, booom instant answer to your worries.

If you're just asking NS if his drink order is odd, then yes for sure. Otherwise you'd see guys drinking white and the bar with their friends all the time.

Absolutely nothing wrong with drinking wine. I frequently enjoy a nice red wine at dinner with my girlfriend or family

But everything is relative so you have to look at his situation. He is out with another man drinking white wine, and they are sharing sake together...

Those three pieces of evidence you've given us might not seem like a big deal if they were isolated..but going to a nice restaurant with another man, ordering a white wine AND sharing sake with him in the same nice sure makes it seem like he enjoys playing the skin flute
