Who on ns has been in scouting or is still involved in scouting? I personaly have my eagle and had a great time in the program.

I was for 3 years, only got to star. Quit because we got a new scout master and it turned real dumb, camping trips wernt even fun anymore and I started skiing more so I ended up not going to meetings and then just kind of quit.

That sucks. My troop went to hood to ski in the summer for a week. It was oonly the people 16 or over that could really ski and we got free tickets for a week for doing a huge service project for timberline.

every time we went skiing it was to some place shittier than my home mountain and I would have to try to teach people how to ski half the day.

eagle and OA...had an awesome time doing it.  i was really fortunate to be with an awesome troop.  we did a weekend camping trip every month and usually spent about 2 or 3 weeks each summer at high adventure camp.

Thanks man!

My eagle scout project was building terrian parks, and teaching little kids how to ride them and be safe and what not.

Me and a couple other OA members are going to Spain to try to get kids intrested in scouting soon.

Dude that is such a sick project.

I build and installed trail posts and some water diverters in a park by my house. Pretty cool to go back a couple years later and still see your trail markers.

I quit my freshman year of high school... made it to star I think? I don't know, it was fun and I just wanted it to be an enjoyable activity, but I got annoyed at how everyone in the troop just made it a huge competition to see who could advance fastest through the ranks. I just wanted to go hiking and camping and shit.

I did it. Could have gotten eagle scout, I guess I was really close but it involved writing shit and doing a projects.

I just wanted to chill with friends and burn shit. We were terrible boy scouts

OA and only star but im getting there. its awesome as long as you dont take it too seriously, i know everyone has those kids in their troops who follow every rule and point and bitch to everyone who doesnt get all hardcore with it

glad to see alot of OA kids on here. That was probably my favorite part about my whole BSA experience, my trip to philmont is the only one that tops it. Got to a pretty high rank in OA but once 18 and Eagle came around i was out.

same exact thing happened to me before are meetings consisted of dodge ball and shit. are camping trips were basically playing with knives and making flamethrowers with bug spray. then a new leader came who was this old chick with a dick up her ass and all we do is talk about badges and learn about the wild at camp so me and my friends all left

Scouting was one of the greatest things i have ever done. we would do a trip once a month, including yearly ski trips, and yearly trips to algonquin park in canada. i've been whitewater rafting, splunking(caveing), and rockclimbing on real rock faces. most of the 46 high peaks in the adk that i completed were on scouting trips. plus being eagle looks great on resumes. I got to do so much shit that i probably would have never gotten to do through scouting.
