Boundary waters is so sick. I spent a mounth going from lake to lake eating fish we caught along the way. It is really really cool when you get  over 100 miles out. the jesus rocks are so awesome.

Cape henlopen Delaware, awesome state park directly across the delaware bay from cape may NJ. Drive the truck right onto the beach and surf fish.

Assateague state park in maryland. 10 bucks for a backcountry camping permit and you can stay up to a week, just gotta hike all your shit 2 miles down the beach.

Utah Desert.

now I know what youre thinking, "Hot, sandy, dry, boring ugly place to camp." and youre right. But its what we do there that makes it all worth it. We canyoneer. Google it to find out more, but here are a few pics to tickle your fancy

spent this past summer in vail. did a lot of camping, biking, hiking, climbing around piney and hanging lake. set my sights on Mt of the Holy Cross but wasnt able to do it because the access road was closed all summer. headed back this may for another summer and the ranger station says the access road will be open by mid June. ive read that Holy Cross can be done in a day but i came across this shelter on Notch Mtn while doing some reading and decided its a must stay. might not be easy to sleep at 13,000 but definitely looks to be worth it...

I spent all but two days between early may and late september camping in my tent. Some of the places I camped this summer...



This was a sweet lake, stayed here for about two weeks. Good fishing and we also had a slackline, ropeswing and sauna set up here. Was here in about september so we were able to go swimming under the northern lights.



This was on a pretty high ridge but still in the buckbrush. Wasn't a great camp because we were so far from water (had to rely on rainwater for showering and such). Took me about 2 hours to clear out a nice tent pad but with all the moss it made for a very comfortable pad. We spent about a day clearing bush to make this site livable!



I lived at this gravel bar for almost a month and a half. This pic is right at the beginning but by the end I had a way nicer tent pad and had also built a 200m sand path so I could walk to my swimming hole without shoes on. There was a much bigger stream just out of view of this picture where we had a slackline going across and of course a huge firepit and sauna.



spent about 2 weeks here. on old mine tailings. not much to say about this one.



this one was in pretty high alpine and looks nice but was very very swampy. Every step your boot was in a couple inches of water. Spent almost 2 weeks here and it sucked. Those rocks were the best places to chill because they were dry. Literally nothing fun to do here except shoot clays.

That pretty much sums up my main camps! There was one other pretty nice one but I never got any pictures there.

any of you guys camp in bivy bags ?

I just got one. Haven't tested it out yet though.

that one looks very decent, just the color is a bit sketchy to use for wild-camping :)

With the poles it is fairly bulky. Probably about 1.5L. Without the poles you could stuff it into a 1L nalgene.

It is long enough to put a small pack and boots at the bottom. It probably wont be as breathable as a goretex or eVENT bag but there are plenty of options for ventalation. I am sure it will be about the same if not better than the US army goretex bag for condensation.

I used to pretty much live in the woods in Tahoe for two summers when I worked up there-it was a lot of fun. Watson Lake/Peak was one of my favorite areas....this is my dog Geo at Watson Lake

5 Lakes Trail to the Pac Crest in the Tahoe area is also a fun spot to hike/camp.
Also Tuolomne meadows is amazing-all the beauty and fun hiking of Yosemite without the crowds), and the Inyo National Forest, by Boundary Peak at the Ca-Nv border, is amazing (and there are something like 200 wild horses in there, which was amazing to see). There is a sweet camping area in nearby Benton-each campsite has a hot tub/shower pumped with natural hot springs water from a source that's right on the property.

Love beach camping in Norcal too (mostly in Marin and Sonoma), and on my to-do list for the very near future is hiking/camping/exploring the Lost Coast.

I rafted the Grand Canyon once and I remember the side hikes being the sickest thing ever. You could drink from the waterfalls and open your eyes underwater in the creeks. I can't wait to move to Salt Lake so I can do this when it's warm.

WOW. I was lucky enough to work up north in similar terrain (much smaller mountains) The forum logo is a pic, you can see the similarities.

I never got around to visiting denali though. I must do it this year!

Some of my favorite spots are lean tos. Having the campfire all set for you it awesome, and generally there is always flowing water around somewhere.



A friend took me to an amazing spot back in April - atop Magic Mtn in VT to a nice secluded spot you wouldn't think was there. Totally gorgeous view. It was a haul to get there, even had to take off my pack to scramble up one part, but it was so worth it. Sadly the weekend didn't go as planned as the weather was cold and very windy - and I had gotten a call from my mom that my younger brother had been in an accident. So it was impossible to enjoy what that spot had to offer. I really want to go back so I can fully soak it in. Special spot it is, for sure.

Really really close on pulling the trigger on renting a campsite at Bahia Honda state park down in the Florida keys. Went there two years ago and it was amazing, totally worth the drive. Only problem is it's super popular and a beautiful park, so it's booked 11 months in advance. So if I got it now I wouldn't be going until may of 2013. Of course that would give me plenty of time to plan and save money and find more willing campers to share the 23 hour drive from PA.

I think I'm gonna just reserve it as it's only like 200 bones for a week of camping. If it falls through then oh well, but that's plenty of time to make it happen.

Crystal clear 80 degree water, snorkeling with all kinds of sea creatures, great fishing in the ocean or gulf, iguanas running wild all over the place, and campsites right on the beach.....

Pretty sweet camping site that I found with some buddies while on a backpacking trip in the Sierra Nevadas. Caught lots of fish and it was awesome. Lots of mosquitos tho. like TONS

Tetons, greenlakes, and moab are all on the schedule for the summer :)
