Car Question

I am having trouble deciding between two cars. Audi A4 2.0T Quattro and BMW 328xi. Both are 2008 cars. They will be both be used for skiing in the winter. I am leaning more towards the Audi myself, but I am still kind of torn between the both. The 4 cylinder turbo seems more appealing to me as opposed to the 6 cylinder in the BMW. Which would you choose NS?

rwd with a good get of winter tires is anything but terrible in the snow.

terrible drivers...on the other hand..




and OP, honestly, just go and drive each and use that experience to inform your decision.
Unless you're going to be modifying/racing your car, the overall performance/attitude/finish of each car is going to be very very close to one another.
Treat it as an emotional decision. They are both great cars.

lots of the audi 2.0ts have had oil consumption problems since new. the bmw is incredibly reliable. my dad had a 135i (twin turbo rwd) with snow tires and got around great in the snow, but still, get the awd.

lol my insurance company just made up my mind for me. Going with the jeep grand cherokee. im not about to pay 4.2k a year in insurance for one of these cars.

Incorrect. Common misconception because most drivers are terrible in the snow... and traction control/abs/awd and other self-driving nonsense covers up for their lack of skill. Also, it doesn't help that most people don't freak out when the car understeers, even though they freak out when the car oversteers... I prefer rwd over fwd in the snow because I don't like losing directional control of the vehicle when I try to apply a bit of power (due to drive wheels being the wheels that also steer the car on fwd)

RWD will never have more traction/control than AWD in the snow. That being said, it's fun as fuck. Old RWD Volvo's mob in snow.

i havent been agreeing with you much lately but i do support this comment for its comedic value.


also subaru is releasing a diesel boxer engine.



but i actually have an e46 325xi and i really dont like it very much so i would go with the audi. even though im not really a fan of those either.

i work as a valet and ive driven mostly every kind of audi and bmw x or quattro, in the snow and on dry pavement. the audi handles a little better in snow but the bmw is overall a more solid car. the audis interior will deplete faster than the bmw and will probably have more internal problems. bmws are safer and as long as you keep up on matinence youll have less engine problems. plus nothing drives like a beamer...so solid

i have a 2011 audi a8 removed v8 engine and replaced with a v10 i love it, my mom had a quattro a long time ago and she liked it but she upgraded cars

Pops owns a 530xi which is the same as a 330xi but bigger. Same engine. & from driving it, that thing can handle.

BUT, in your case, i'd go with the 2.0t quattro for the fact that its a 2.0 & not a 3.2? i believe & already has a stock turbo but the turbo is useless unless you are driving standard. Theres substantial turbo lag on the automatic, as ive driven it. Size wise, the a4 is smaller but is a quick little car.

verdict: A4 only if standard

personally id go with the bimmer....the v6 engine is so much more comfortable to drive on the highway with that extra power.

bmws with xi have nothing on audis. I have driven a 528xi and an a6, and they are both very nice cars, the audi is even a few years older and it is so much better in the snow. The bmw is driveable, but if you can, get the audi

pretty sure you are the only 12 year old in here....

also its about 23 to 24 grand investment. everything does matter even if you are not racing. you want the car to preform to you standards that you want. you also want the outcome of the handling to match your needs.

no. Have any of you fucking driven a 2.0t? I was about to get a 2006 2.0t & drove it in both automatic & manual, and you have turbo lag in the automatic..

Yo not to sidetrack this beauty of a thread, but why the hell can't you get a diesel yota in the states???? Is this all political BS or what??

Only asking you because you seem to know your shit when it comes to automobiles.

I've been wishing I could have a hilux or something for like a decade or so. Also like every year there are rumors that yota will bring a diesel to the states but it never happens. WTF??

not a clue- europe is huge into small turbo diesel motors right now-

not too big of a diesel guy but I do wish I could get a new JK wrangler with the diesel instead of the shitty chrysler 6 cylinder

HPA Performance makes a swap package for the new JK and TJ wranglers that swaps in a new VW TDI motor with a larger intercooler and revised software and fueling- 210hp and like 310 ft b of tq

thank christ they dumped the 3.7 after a long 4 years for jeep enthusiasts..

the new pentastar 3.6 is pretty damn nice tho, hopefully it has the bulletproof capabilities of the old 4.0 that i've ran for years without problems

i would still give up my first born for a production diesel wrangler tho...

I think so- hpa is the same company that can get you a new scirocco r converted to awd in North America- and they put 640 awhp in it for shits and gigs


only thing is they are soo damn expensive- in everything they do- but when it comes to turn key performance with a warranty they are the best


the whole thing with motor and installation is 15k- the conversion itself is only 3k- but the added shit and motor and install jack the price up huge

but if you can source a tdi motor for cheap its an easy ass install apparently- minimal welding, drop it in and then hook up the ecu with their software
