so i turned my 95 subaru legacy on saturday for the first time in 2 months. something shorted (i think) and now the turn signal and brake lights won't turn off when i turn my car off. i have to unplug the battery so my car doesn't die, any ideas on what's wrong?
I was going to say it was your alarm because when you unplug the battery the lights will stay on. There's a button behind your hood release (at least on my car, a 98) that you have to press while turning the key to the on position and hold for 10 seconds (don't start the car).
Can't help with a short. Car wiring is a pain in the ass.
Like this guy said up here ^^^^^ theres a button that you have to press. On my 96 legacy its under the dashboard right next to the steering collumn. It should be hanging down on a piece of wire. If that doesnt work then maybe your hazard lights are on....?good luck
UPDATE: i was really fucking stupid, but it turns out that it was just the hazard lights that were on. i felt stupid. my mechanic charged me $25 to tell me my hazards were on. what a douche
I thought someone mentioned that above. Was it hazards or the Parking lights (switch on top of steering column)? I never knew what that switch did until I flipped it putting in my stereo and couldn't figure out why my lights were still on.
