Sugarbush or Stowe?

This should probably be in another thread, but I'm in class.

I'm at Champlain and my friends go to UVM or Lyndon State. I can get a Bush pass for $100, but they ALL want Stowe passes. What I've heard around here and from some friends back home is that Bush's park is better, but they're all saying the exact opposite. I don't really wanna drop $400 in college, and I'm sure the rest of the terrain is better than what I get in Maine.

So, NS, which park is better, Sugarbush or Stowe?

im in the same boat with ya, i heard that stowes park is a lil better but that they got long lift lines

I'm not selling Maine short, it has some gnarly shredding at Sugarloaf and Saddleback, Sunday River is a lot of cruising trails.

And if the Triple Major is over $100, which I assume it is for 3 mountains, it's tough. Like, I REALLY don't have a lot of money to spend on anything...

This doesnt have either of the mountains you want, but blong131 has some crazy deal for college students where you get mount snow as well as like 5 other mountains for like 275.

Sugarbush!!!!! Several sick lines to ski and you got all that woods inbetween the two peaks. They also have a free bus to pick you up at the bottom. Sorry if this is confusing im on mobile

Shit your looking for park. Well i cant really help u with that. All i know is that stowe has the pipe but the bush is setting up tons of rails this year. My friend is park crew. And he knows the plans for this year

Sugarbush by far. You will have tons more fun, never wait in line, and you can still go to Cabot. Stowe has big jumps, if that's what you want in park then that is all that Stowe offers over the Bush besides pipe.

stowe if you want jumps and pipe. sugarbush if you want rails (soooo many) and an overall good vibe.

This blows, it's essentially half and half haha. I'm thinking more sugarbush though, keep in mind I'm in college and $100 is $300 less than $400, I learned that in college.

If you are planning on skiing park the entire time, then maybe the bush. I know the bush has some great terrain between the mtns but you really can't compare it to the terrain options at Stowe. Are you at all considering where you live??? Aren't they like an hour and a half apart or so??

Stowe's lines are a bitch. The pipe and ramps are enormous and the parks are overall better in my opinion. Sugarbush's lines are really quick and the trails are 100x better than stowes. Sugarbush's park is still really nice and their rails are much much better. I vote Stowe.

Sorry to not really contribute much everyone pretty much said the same thing i did, but they are two of the three actual mountains ive been to and I felt the need to post. I live in Erie, PA. I never get to post.

not really at that triple, that goes basically to the top of the park, theres rarely a line.

I go to champlain too, get a stowe pass, and get a sugarbush park pass theyre 30$ for mt ellen.

nah man, i googled both of them and there's a 10 mile and 10 minute difference in the distance between them from Champlain, so distance isn'treally an issue.

And to everyone saying Stowe, i have like $700. That's it. Is it really worth spending more than half of that for one mountain versus another equivalent mountain for only $100? I won't be skiing park ALL the time, but I want a sick park cause I'll be skiing it a decent amount.

dude mt ellen (sugarbush north-where the park is) has such a good vibe compared to stowe. i would compare lincoln peak more to stowe in terms of the crowd/vibe. ellen is really laid back and just a general good time. great terrain as well-long top to bottom bangers with great vertical. rarely ever big lines either especially midweek.

I would say both Lincoln and Ellen have an excellent vibe. It is unbelievable how much friendlier Bush is than Stowe. Stowe is full of try hards, douche bags, and snotty rich fucks. I don't care what the terrain is (which Stowe has excellent terrain, but it is nothing compared to every other mountain in the area), if I am going to be treated like shit, I'm not going there, and I am especially not paying some ridiculous price for all that.

You know, I've heard about side country, but honestly, I have 2 pairs of pipecleaners for skis and that's it. If I had more proper stuff I would probly consider it, but if people say Stowe because of sidecountry I'll probly just go to Bush and save $300 this year. I have time to buy so I'll just see what others have to say.


And +K for all the legit answers folks, it's helping a bunch.

and glen house at sugarbush has 3 buck pbr tallboys, which is not bad at all for the mountain. i usually start crankin those around 10am out on the deck on a nice day and just do laps off summit quad.

Summary

Go to the Bush if you like: Fun, fun people, good vibe, down rails, less crowds, more down rails, grilling hotdogs and dunking them in BBQ sauce.

Go to Stowe if you like: Spending more money, ass holes, big jumps, really long park lines, an unwelcoming atmosphere, pipe.

My vote, Bush, ski with us and you will have an incredibly fun season.

Had a pass to Sugarbush 09-10 season and was extremely disappointed and will forever regret it. Will not be going back and always had a better time at Stowe.

I would go with Stowe and in years past you were able to get a Sugarbush (Mt Ellen/North) pass where the park is for $30 through Champlain.


Look into that at and get the Stowe pass.

Where I do appreciate the input, I've heard from more people than just this thread that Sugarbush is good, it sucks you didn't enjoy it like I'm hoping I will. But, what it comes down to is I simply can't get a Stowe pass. I don't have $400 to pay, even for skiing, and definitely can't afford Stowe AND Mt. Ellen. But I hope Bush isn't as disappointing for me as it unfortunately was for you!
