First Possible VT Snowfall Stoke Thread

This will clearly jinx it now, but...

Possible snowfall is in the works for the Green Mountains on Saturday into Saturday night.

Nothing major, but a dusting to a few inches COULD happen and since this is the first snowfall for VT, it's worth getting stoked on.

inb4 all the east coast hate, even if it doesnt last more than a day i would be stoked to see some snow and it just means the warm temps are hopefully gone until spring and you never know last year the storm in mid october was supposed to be small and i ended up having one of my best days of the year at killington

Well, it is the time of year where the temperature swings widely up and down. Very well might see above average temperatures next week after some snow this weekend.

Either way, we are 5-6 weeks out from the start of the season, so get stoked!

Do you guys remember when Snow opened for a few days in October a few years ago? Holy shit that was sick. I'm in favor of freezing temps all through October.

I was just coming to check this thread haha. It was definitely raw as fuck out yesterday, I wouldn't be surprised if the mountains were near freezing. I checked all the websites and nothing has been said of any snow :(

Nothing up here at bolton yet.....really cold temps, but its still rain. Give it 10-15 more days and there will be some snow on the ground.

Low pulled in too much warm air for the Northeast. Snow fell down in the Appalachians but just a cold rain for the Northeast.

Gotta wait a bit I guess.

I know skierx is one of the few NS wether guru's along with Chris..., but does anyone thing the chance of the low on thursday will drop? wunderground says 34 and if it can get to 32 I can make some snow! BTW i live in seacoastish NH.

Doubtful. It's not a cold air mass really. It's just a low humidity, clear sky situation that allows temperatures to drop (radiational cooling). The low temperature for the day will occur right around sunrise and then rise relatively quickly thereafter.

Even if it did bottom out at 32, you aren't going to have decent snowmaking production in those conditions. Better off saving the energy.

a few days ago i went out to eat with a few girls i know, and when walking back to our dorm, i looked at the lights in the parking lot and in the rain you could see a mix of some snow and rain. although the snow didn't amount to anything, it was nice seeing and i almost blew a 5 dollar Hawaiian wonder all over the parking lot
