What vinyl cutter...

hey im looking to get a vinyl cutter for personal use, not to start a business like the other million kids here on NS. Im basically just looking for a pretty nice basic one to start out, anyone got any recommendations? decent brands, Etc. Price limit is about 450. Would like one that would come with decent software. +K to anyone with input, Thanks Newschoolers!

have you already checked out t-shirtforums.com?

they have a whole section on vinyl cutters and reviews of every cutter out there. you might also be able to find good used cutters in the classifieds forum or sometimes retailers offer discounts to forum members. check it outtttttt

yeah I looked at t-shirt forums a little, whats the difference between a contour cutter, a regular vinyl cutter? would I need a contour to make diecuts?

I'd suggest not taking advice from anyone who doesn't have experience with a vinyl cutter, no offence to anyone giving help. You can probably find the 8 inch Stika model somewhere online for close to $450. It comes with easy to install software that is simple to use if you're good with Adobe Illustrator or programs alike.

I can go on and on but any specific question just PM me.

You don't need a contour cutter to cut vinyl stickers.

Be careful with the smaller cutters (like the 8 inch) because they can be tough to find vinyl for. Make sure you can easily source vinyl in the width of your cutter otherwise you're going to be cutting an entire roll lengthwise to get it to fit through your machine.
