New Camera Help!!

So I'm Looking to get a camera, a nice one not a 100 dollar one i got for my 8th grade graduation. I'm only looking o spend about 600 dolla. there are so many different features in cameras and i have no idea what any of them mean. can i get some help. like what makes "a good camera" what do i want to look for?
