You score by either kicking the ball through the uprights for three points (I believe) or by touching the ball down to the ground past the try line. You get six for a try and two for the extra kick afterwards.

I have never actualy played so someone please correct me if I am wrong.

correct on everything except a try is only worth 5 points not 6
