6 years ago all I wanted to do was ski park. I obsessed about rails and technical spins and all that shit. I didnt even cared if it snowed fresh. Now I look at these kids doing ballerina shit on rails in the park wearing fucking nighties and it makes me cringe. Seems more of a image infested drag show than skiing. Anywhoo I may just be getting older. Disregard pointless thread if you like, getting a feeling off my chest.
Just because people wear certain clothes doesnt take away from the impressiveness of the stuff that they are doing. Yes clothes and that "image" have gone a bit too far but it will pass and a new trend will arise.
Even I'm not too old to appreciate that everyone has their own style, and has the freedom to express it. I don't care what they look like, or what they're wearing.....it's all fun and I love it!
Watch some Ian Compton, Traveling Circus, CASG Sundays, Cole Drexler, etc etc. They are all amazing and are keeping park skiing creative and entertaining.
Or just go watch some Bentchetler, Sean Petite, or Nimbus. They are also super entertaining but people killing it in the backcountry.
Ride all mountain so you can hit all discipline. Its what I do. I always ski the backbowls at resorts in the mornings and hit up the park in the end of the day, that might help just a little bit.
it can be silly and discouraging for sure, but i've had some great park days. For me its a matter of being with fun people and finding little things to do that place me out of my comfort zone. I am still really impressed by a lot of park skiing I see. However I think there is much more to being an adequate, let alone good, skier.
I can't stand watching park skiing anymore. I used to eat that shit up, lap the park all day, then watch edits all night. Now I want to stab my eyes out every time I see a double cork 12 or someone dance around doing 50 switch ups on a rail. Its not a bad thing and I'm glad my park days are behind me.
I think if you don't like park then you don't like it, but don't hate it cause how people dress or the tricks they pull, people will dress however they want and ski there own styles and if it's that big a bother to take your attention from the skiing itself then I'm sorry to hear that I guess
