Line '12 Chronics

SOO....i weigh 180 and really want these skis but hear that they are stiff and heavy. I really want to learn butters but not a soft enough of a ski that wont work outside of the park on some steep black diamonds....please help also what is the best binding set up with these for under 200 for bindings...id really like some input and reviews if possible...

if you have the 12 chronics post a pic i really wanna see some in "real life"

I have 11' cryptos which are basically the '12 chronics....have pivot 14s on em and I weigh jus a little more than you....they butter fine.....it's not as easy as say an a banger but if you can butter you'll be fine....they are stiff but I don't think they're all that heavy feeling. IMO it's the best park/all mountain goin. One of my top three fav skis of all time. Enjoy

They are not that heavy but fairly stiff. A ski really does not need to be that soft to butter. I weigh 150 ish and can butter my 184 volk walls just fine. The chronic will be a sweet ski for you.

thanks but arent the walls like soft??? not sure just i realllly wanna just start butters but want a ski thatll rip all mountain +k to you

Not that soft compared to other skis that I have skied on (Armada T Hall, Armada Halo, Suspect was slightly stiffer)

i had last years chronic and it was amazing. i ski 50 precent park 50 precent all mtn. and trees and it was dirty. it is a little stiffer but you could still butter. it held up well at speeds. it is pretty much the same ski as this years

i just got the new ar7. i was looking at the chronis also but decided on the the ar7 beause it was lighter and a smaller waist

the ar7 might be a good sik for u but if not the chronic will be a good choice

Yeah that's a trade off though....stiffer=better all mountain...softer=easier butters....but like I said and link said you can butter almost any ski and the chronics stiff but it's not super stiff...I'm heavier but mine butter and press just fine.

yh i was considering the ar7s cuz they are lighter with the ar50 sidewall but I REALLY WANTED LAST YEARS cuz they were fricken amazing graphics but i really think im gonna go for the chronics...just as soon as i sell my Armada El Reys and Bindings

Good stuff....you'll dig that ski for sure...I loved it and it seriously upped my skill level for sure....so much more confidence on the bigger features...have fun

Haha...the chronics dude...but they gotta be the '12s.....if you go for the '11s get the chronic crypto.....for '12 they did away with the regular chronic and jus renamed the crypto the chronic....but that 92 underfoot is where it's at....such a fun ski

"Chronics" (I call them cryps, cuz real chronics are skinnier) and Wall's have a pretty much identical flex, I could not tell the difference hand flexing them side by side with my "chronics". But they really aren't a ski for buttering, you can get up on the tips and tails, but you can't press the ski like you do in a real butter. I have jesters on mine, any binding will work if it's the correct din.
