My name is ASH, I'm a TYPE 3 Expert skier. I like to ski very fast on steep lines, make really big turns and do a lot of slashes. If I could model my skiing after any pro, it would be EP.
I ski Mammoth 70%, Utah 25%, and I'm going to Monashee Powder Cats for the first time this season.
I only ski off the top at Mammoth, in Utah I mostly ski spots like McConkeys at Park City, the back side of Solitude, or Alta. I spent my college years skiing at Wolf Creek on the weekends.
I only ski during the week, and I only ski if there is powder or good windblown fluff. No groomers, I'd rather work.
I never enter the park, save for one lap through the halfpipe on my way home at the end of the day.
I ski with a very surfy style, I like to flow as much as I can. I do a lot of small airs and land switch, do a lot of buttering, never go more than about 15 feet through the air and I don't ever go upside down. Again, I like to do big, fast turns.
I'm 5'8", 155 pounds, age 26. Not growing. Wear size 26.5 boots, 120 flex, which honestly could probably be stiffer.
Have been riding the original Armada ARV 175 since the year they released them. I watched my brother riding SFB's on our last trip of the season this year in waist deep snow and he was dusting me with the wider, rockered skis. I know I need a pair, and I guess my ARV's are considered "park skis" today.
I will most likely demo before I buy. I need to figure out which order to demo, and which skis?
I like stiff skis that don't chatter, that I can lay down really hard turns on. I like to go fast in chutes and stop on a dime. And when i'm in the trees, I prefer not to worry about whether I'm going to hit them, so the ski needs to be nimble as well.
Thoughts? JJ? MPO? S7? Super7? Length?
Thank you in advance for your insight!
