I got a Bolex!!!

Yep. Last sunday I went to my grandpa house and we ere moving some stuff around, and quess what he found. An ancient 8mm Bolex. I've been looking for some kind of 8mil camera for a while now and ths thing kicks ass. It called a C or P 8 Paillard-Bolex and I know nothing about it other than how to use it. The working fps range is 12 to 64 and it has some other dial but I don't knw what it does. nybody out there know anything about cameras? Are there any sites I can vist or book I can pick up? Where can I buy 8mm day-light loading cartridges? Anybody know?

that would be a good camera to fool around with.

Does it have a single frame release?? if it does you can make some sweet time lapse stuff.

I'd just go to google and type in stuff like 8mm bolex. you'll come to a site with a lot of info eventually.

thats tight buddy...i really want an 8mm....my comm tech teacher has one and he says it like really expensive to develop cuase you have to send the film away...and the film is hard to find to...

Yeah, you can still buy Super 8 film and developing fairly cheap, but the camera I got (MYWICKEDMINTINGBOLEX!!!) use the old-OLD-school double perferation 8mm film, whereas the newer Super 8 format uses single perferation film, which is hard to find. Maybe when I get a job I put up for some film, but in the time being I might get a Super 8 camera that belonged to the school. And I'm going to France this July, so I'll might be doing some suppa-sweet photograghy. Senic stuff. Man, I'm pysced...

i have a nice canon super 8 cam in perfect condition from my dad. ive shot like 15 rolls on it. super 8 film and develoing are easy to get from kodak. its about 10$ us for film and 5$ for developing for a 50foot 3 1/2 minute roll. click here to order film. Click here for processing super 8 film is a lot more popular than regular 8

I don't know about 8mm but I know that they have conversion kits for cameras to go from regular 16mm to super 16mm. so look around you might find instructions on how to do it with an 8mm.
