92 BMW 325?

This is a question for people that know lots about cars and BMWS. I am currently looking at a 92 BMW 325i that has 269,000 KMS on it atm. And it has been well maintained. How many more KM's will it go before shitting the bed?

That engine is about to give out on you. do not buy that. I have a 2006 BMW it is the best <3 but it only has 60k miles.

That's a lot of fucking miles. Beamers are great cars, but also not cheap to repair. Car looks like it's in great shape. Go ahead and buy it if it's for the right price. Who doesn't want to own a BMW?

none of us can really tell you, im guessing its for sale now cuz the owner knows youll get maybe 2 or 3 years out of it if you really take care of it.
how much? and get it to a reputable BMW dealership and have a few of their guys take a look at it.

I have a 2002 325xi with 170,000km (very very well maintained) and am not expecting it to last more then 3 years.

i bet the fan will be the 1st to go.

lol its kilometers 269,000 KM = 167,000 miles. stil alot but for a 1992 car thats not too bad.

they are asking 2500, i only really need the car for a year. and i went and looked at it today they recently got alot of work done on it a new fan, new exhaust, new spark plugs, recent oil change and when driving the car around it felt fine. i will get a mechanic to check it out first before purchasing.

literally it is different for evey single car. it all depends on how hard previous drivers drove it, how well they mantained it, and hoe lucky you are haha. good luck

standard or auto? if its standard i might wanna check that clutch as well.

thats a pretty good deal. not gunna lie. then trade it to some kid at your local highschool for a macbook pro when you're done.

Its manual. the clutch seems fine in it. i plan on having a mechanic check it out.

Get the maintenance records if you can. As long as a car and engine are properly maintained, they can run forever, just have to slowly replace worn and broken parts as you go.

from speaking to the chick selling it she is the original owner of it and has always had the car properly maintained at the BMW dealership. So it seems good to me

Does it had the 2.5 inline 6? Cuz that's a pretty reliable and bullet proof engine I think. I believe transmission issues were commons in the E36 automatics, so check that out. Also check for any oil leaks anywhere on the car, diff, trans, head, cuz leaks are a pain in the ass and can be expensive to diagnose and repair

do this instead. get a 89, 90, 91 e30 in good condition with under 140k on the chassis, & then do a m50 or m52 swap, or if you have money a m62 swap. & you're ballin.

Basically this. If its standard then your pretty set.

I have a 1989 325is.......the odometer broke a year ago at 196000 miles and she still runs great, you should be fine just get it checked out

look for something with less mileage. i have a 1988 bmw 3.25 convertible with 77k. engine was well maintained and still flys

i do believe it is a 2.5 inline 6. No oil leaks it all has been well maintained. and i only need to drive this car for about year so i think it is a pretty damn good deal .

167,000 isnt that bad. i dont know much about e36's but if that were an e30 you would have atleast another 100,000 miles in the life of the engine. my e30's got almost 240,000 miles, i drive the shit out of it every day, and its still running strong with no problems. they are known to keep running strong past 400,000 miles if they are well taken care of.
but still, not sure about the e36, just sayin, im guessing it will last you awhile.

I had a '98 S70 before I got my WRX and that thing was a tank. Never had any problems with the engine, just the AC compressor had to be replaced twice. But as far as reliability Volvos last forever. Had a friend get his V70 to 300k+ miles before selling it, and he barely maintained it.

not sure about the the reliability of the s80 but my friend has that car and its a nice car. single handedly turned me onto volvos. better be good at K turns tho cause it has the turning radius of a barge

not as reliable as the old volvos..these were made by ford. go with the bimmmer just have someone look at it. you wont be disapointed.

I have a 95 325i convertible with 100k miles. It runs like a champ except the plastic and glue keeps drying up and breaking on some interior parts.

Yeah, good point. For some reason I thought Ford bought Volvo in '03...

That being said if you can find a '99 or earlier Volvo it'll last forever.

No. Would you rather have a car beat to shit with 80k or one well maintained with 150k. I was taught to never judge cars by miles, but by serive records and by profiling the seller, like if it's a 70 year old women your good, but if it's a 17 year old kid, STAY AWAY

The owner of the BMW was a 30 year old women that owned it from new and ad it well maintained. And with the Volvo the guy would give me no information about the previous owner so... Seem sketchy there

Don't do it. I had a 93 535i for my first car, like 6 years ago, and it crapped out on me. They just get old, and repairing them is EXPENSIVE.

My dad constantly hates on my BMW. he is always like "it is not a porsche" soo here soon i'm going to be doing a big turbo, engine, suspension upgrade. hopefully it will beat his porsche.

I forget if the m50b25 has a timing chain or belt but if belt that's kinda sketchy. Dont worry about the mileage worry about the rust and maintenance. my 77 bmw has a broken odometer at 400000km and it still runs great.
People saying its going to cost lots to fix are wrong. You just have to be not retarded.
I got a 95 318is and its so fun and it's been through hell and back and even off a cliff.

Yes getting that amount of miles on a car like that is great. But the car overall is a chode. the looks the speed, the handling. one of my friends was like "dude my 318 is better than your 335I" we traded cars for a day, and I wanted to slam it into a wall.

My parents had a 92 325i with over 200K miles and ran like a champ. It was well maintained and luckily never needed any serious repairs. They sold it a few months back.
