i used to buy and sell all my equipment off newschoolers. more and more recently when i do bother to check the sell/trade forum there is just ridiculous sales.

keep in mind this is a ski site, therefore the items for sale should be somewhat ski related.

clothes/shoes, that kinda stuff i can understand, but video games, dvds, and today i saw a fuckin lamp. like seriously?? a lamp? same kid had a jar of seashells.
maybe my meters broken, orrrr more likely, this forum has just gone to shit.

i understand some of you kiddies need to sell your lamp so you can buy your $100 jibberish hoodie or no one will like you, but fuck, use craigslist. no one here is gonna buy a lamp etc.

sites like craigslist, kijiji, ebay exist for a reason. sell your stupid shit on there. newschoolers is for ski equipment.

the amount of worthless posts you have to cycle through to find actual ski equipment is endless. IMO that forum either needs to be broken down into hardgood/softgoods/miscellaneous(lamps). Or people just need to use a little common sense and what and who they are trying to sell to on newschoolers.

other forums I am on have strict rules about what you can sell, specifically the items must in some way relate back to the subject of the forum. NS is like a yard sale, it's fucking stupid, so much clutter from shit that no one wants. We should ONLY be allowed to sell skiing related things.

once again, another obvious thing that admins just completely ignore. YOU GUYS HAVE TO MODERATE SELL TRADE, don't use that bull shit excuse that you guys could be held liable, no you fucking can't be. Update the ULA and your asses are covered. S/T should be HEAVILY moderated because actual money is in play.

i'm ok with this. the economy is terrible and i would say the more people that see it the better, and it's only a link to another site where all the details are. plus it's in the midst of a huge sale.

just don't have two skiing related items up for sale and then a lava lamp or some shit.

nothing is really wrong with it, its just how things work, if they "fix" it you will just complain of the changes and stuff. Really, B/S/T is a yard sale in a way, if someone doesn't want it the item won't sell, and to sell stuff you must put time and effort into selling items. If you get scammed, most likely it was your fault for not using the right transaction method, trading with someone with no so good feedback, not getting enough info, or not seeing other red flags. If you are smart about it chances are you will not get scammed.

B/S/T is a "non-moderated" section of the forums, the last frontier. If you don't like it then go somewhere else, no one is making you buy the jiberish on the front page, nor is anybody making you sell your crapola. If you start moderating for type of item or price policing or quality stuff, you get into grey shaky ground that is uneeded.

All you have. To do is break it into hard and softgoods. then you wouldn't need to comb through five pages to see three pairs of skis. It Would be infinitely easier. I don't get why people get upset that people make suggestions in the section of the site reserved for site suggestions. "i think ns could grow here" "screw you It's fine" is more than half the responses you'll get. Solid contribution. (sorry not the guy I quoted legit post)

We have and will continue to to let that forum be what members make it. People want to sell 100 pieces of jibberish, or a lamp, its up to you.

We'd still really love to convert BST into a proper classifieds section where you can post photos, info and put individual items into categories. Buut, noone seems down with that for some reason and would rather use the wild west of selling

that seems like it would be a great idea. categorize everything helmets, goggles, jackets, boots, skis, etc.

i see how kids like to make their sales with all their shit but if everything was itemized you could just message them. it would also take longer to put up sales which will make people not want it to change.

personally im all for it

first, i never said anything was wrong with it. i said people should remember this is a ski site, and therefore sell ski related merchandise. not lamps, not calculators, not sea shells. boom, problem solved.

i realize if people dont want things they wont sell. the problem really, is that you need to sift through pages and pages of shit to find what you want, or lately, even find SKI EQUIPMENT!

i dunno why youre talking about being scammed, i never brought that up, nor do i have a problem with it. you choose who you want to deal with and if you get worked over, tough go. but while were off topic, hows the weather in texas?

jiberish is ski related, right? right.
im not selling my crapola, just my SKI EQUIPMENT. (which was my initial point).
i didnt ask for it to be moderated, i asked for people to consider what they are selling.
i never asked for it to be price policed, if its too exspenise dont buy it.

honestly breaking S/T down into catagories would make everything easier for the sellers and the buyers. Like for example someone is looking for a used pair of jesters. When you open up the S/T fourm finding a pair for sale would take forever. shifting through the thread titled labeled Marker only to find a shitty pair of M12 bindings. If things were broken up into sections. One could just enter the Binding section and easily find if any jesters were for sale. It would also help the sellers becasue then there item could get found and sold a lot easier.
This really needs to happen i can see this being the next big change to NS and it would be for the better big time.
