Nikon 80-200 f/2.8

It's because it's the 80-200 and not the 70-200. A new 80-200 is around $900, and a 70-200 is around $2000.

The price will go up to about 700-800, thats how much they usually go for.

Yea, the push pull 80-200 is worth about 550-650. It's a great lens, just dorky, and the push pull allows more dust to get into the lens and thus your body. However, it will allow less dust then consumer zooms that elongate when you zoom and don't have internal focusing elements. If you're not taking photos all day professionally it's worth it to get this lens instead of the newer versions IMO

i doubt ill end up getting it, but i was just wondering why the hell it was so cheap. i dont really like the whole push pull thing

i got a used 80-200 2.8 (not the one you are looking at) for $600
thats cheap but i personally dont like push pull lenses.

Actually if you pay more than $450-475 for the push pull version you're a sucker. I think it was Woods that said the D version non push/pull should go for around $900 high end and thats about right..

It's been a while since I looked at it, it's an awesome lens for what you pay for it. I always forget to rec it when people talk about getting an 80-200 for their Canon for filming

it's so cheap because it's the 80-200 which is an older model and because it's the slide to zoom version. the version with the rings typically sells for 700-900
