Skiing alone...

What are your thoughts on it.  I have never had to do this but this winter i have the opportunity to ski 22 days straight during break.  I dont have any friends available to come along cuz they all have work or plans or other bull to do so im probably gonna go by myself.  I figured it might suck cuz you have nobody to share your excitement with when u get super stoked about something.

I'm a one man wolfpack, but my knuckledragger girfriend comes along sometimes. However 1/3 times I ski with other people a femur gets broken.

i will be skiing alone more now than ever, friends who ski have gradually moved away and im not working or have much school in the spring. should be good, just hard keeping it interesting. a good year really helps, otherwise i like being in the park so i can at least see/ meet other people. blaze and music make being alone much better too

I like to ski alone. Putting on some good chill music on a sunny day and it clears my mind so much. It's like meditating for me almost.

skiing is fun because you usually end up meeting up with people you know or finding new people to ski with soon enough. and its fun skiing alone cuz you can listen to music and not feel like youre shutting everyone else out. at least thats how i feel hahah

I hardly ever ski alone but its pretty nice sometimes. on a pow day I get split up on epic runs all the time but we usually just meet up at the lift.

last year me and my brother saved this guy who fell face first in some sketchy sierra cement and couldn't get out...we just happened to be at the right place at the right time. When your out riding off trail its pretty dumb not to have a buddy withithin yelling distance but you never know, in the heat of the moment on a good run its very easy to get split up pretty far...just be safe.

i actually love skiing alone. not as much as skiing with a good couple buddies of course but skiing alone i dont have to wait for anyone and can go/do whatever i want. its cahj.

yo i ski alone once and a while...i love it. Its actually pretty relaxing crusing around doing whatever the fuck you want. Skiing with friends is way better but alone isnt bad at all.

I don't mind skiing alone every once in a while. I mean skiing with friends is just better, but it can also be quite annoying sometimes in my opinion. So if I wanna try out new stuff, I will go and try it a alone first.

Skiing with music owns ^^

I dont really ever ski entirely alone in that I generally have at least a few friends on the mountain. That being said, 70% of the time I like skiing by myself with music and casually running into friends, taking a lap and then doing my own thing some more. If it's a serious pow day, I go with friends cause serious pow days out here can be seriously dangerous.

That and I meet way more people/make new friends when I'm by my lonesome which is always nice.

I do hate it though when its a super busy day and you line up with some strangers, go to load and realize they just left you standing there to ride alone. Then I feel a bit weird for a moment or two.

skiing alone is one of the great things. you have free will to do whatever you like, no asking opinions from friends. just you and music.

in other hand, with friend u have sick fun times.

Some years I get more days in alone than with friends. Just pop in the headphones and lap all day, its fun. If I'm learning a new trick I prefer going alone.

I like skiing alone, most of my friends don't keep up and I hate sitting in the middle of a run waiting or lookin for them. I would hate to have somebody thinking I've got them covered then when my back's turned they end up in a tree well or something. that being said there's no better way to chill with friends than sittin on the lift or chasin each other down the hill

i enjoy skiing alone during the day. my friends tend to go very slow and i like to cruise. plus being able to focus on solely myself and not what anyone else is doing is nice for a change. but when the lights come on id rather have a group together

Skiing alone is fine, don't mind it. But I usually ski with just 2 or 3 people most of the time. I like to ski in big groups of like 10 also.

Im really happy skiing alone, probably comes from my rollerblading where i used to always take my skates with me wherever my family went so i would end up at a new park by myself so i just got on with what i enjoyed. I usually met new people which is great and some of my really good friends were from just going out and rollerblading/skiing on my own and meeting them cos we were both out just enjoying what we do. If I have the opportunity to ski im not gonna turn it down just because ive not got somebody to go with, i just like being on my skis whoevers there. I feel i can really focus and progress a bunch shredding by myself esp at learning new tricks as most of my friends arent into park as much as i am. i am perfectly happy to lap the park first to last lift, most people get bored. serious skiing on real mountains and real cliffs ive done by myself a bit but got in touchy situations where i should have had a buddy so id pick to be with friends almost every time. what i really like to do if im out by myself is just really do what i want to do. whether is be hot laps of the park or go on a cruisy run or scope a line i will do it, on a whim, and when your with anybody else youve got 2 or more peoples whims to please so can limit your whimsy.

I often go skiing by myself, but hardly ever ski alone. There's usually some homies up on the hill to meet up with, or people in the singles line to make friends with. Definitely met some cuties last year at the Can Can while riding solo.

you have a way better chance of getting your popsicle licked by girls when your alone. They want to do things to you but being held accountable by your friends is not going to result in domeshots in the glades.

if you end up making new friends while riding alone, and then ride alone and make more new friends, and keep repeating this cycle, eventually will you ever be riding alone?

I like skiing alone on inbounds days but I wouldn't go into the backcountry without a buddy who knows what they're doing. I find the best days are the ones shared with just one other person where you can push each other and just have a great time shredding.

i just meant resort pow days, it's a joke a boardshop here always says when i rode with them. that all the friends start lapping together but if they are too slow they are no longer your friend you fend for yourself.

i would never go back country or cliff dropping alone

I ski alone the majority of the time, only because not many of my friends ski/board as much as me, and/or don't live here anymore. I love skiing with friends, and definitely go harder in the park and try new stuff when I'm with them (as well as do way more stupid shit haha). Usually when I'm alone, I just like to cruise around the hill minding my own business for a few hours, and maybe take a few laps through the park. If there's come chill people in the park I'll stick around for a while, but I usually go for first chair and I'm out of there by like 1 or 2.

And you may not drop cliffs... but if you ski trees... plenty of people get caught in tree wells, and sadly, quite a few people have died. I recall a family that was snowboarding. They got to the bottom of the run and realized that the mom was missing. She had gone head first into a tree well. By the time they found her, she had already died.

I know, I've heard that saying too. But its seriously the worst saying unless you consider 4 inch days powder days.

The key to pow days is to find people at your level that are going to keep an eye out for you the entire way down.

I don't mind skiing by myself. Plug some tunes in and go. It's an awesome feeling when your just out skiing to whatever music is pounding your headphones.


However, the best day I had last year was sessioning a shitty kicker my buddy and I built.

I like skiing with other people when they are better then i am so i can learn more that way, but a lot of the time i like just hot lapping the park by myself with some music just so i can focus on doing my own thing. On powder days i always ski with atleast one other person just incase one of us hits a tree or gets caught in a well then there's another person to help dig you out or get patrol if its needed.

I love skiing alone... its tight to shred in your own world...

I do love skiing with my friends too though. However, skiing at Park City is basically skiing alone because all my friends ski fast, dont like waiting or stopping in the slightest, and are too serious

It's a lot of fun to hit the park alone, but it is an unreal feeling being in the woods alone. The calmness, the quiet, it's amazing. I love skiing alone in the woods without music.

I have a crew that I ride with at Squaw, but I enjoy skiing alone too sometimes. It's sort of meditative-just you and the mountain, play some good tunes and just cruise through the snow. It's therapeutic in a way, and certainly better then not skiing at all! Plus you can strike up conversations with and meet cool new people sometimes on the chairlift! I've also done some solo hikes with my dogs before=also a good time.

Ill be skiing by myself in park city for a month. Ive skied my hill a lot by myself and its not to bad, I just hope i still have a blast out there which im sure im bound to.
