So I've decided that my next glass purchase is going to be something on the wide end, but I am having a hard time making a decision. I have a GH2 so the 2.0x crop makes buying wide glass sort of a bitch. Right now these are my two biggest options, but I am definitely open to some other suggestions:
Panasonic Lumix 7-14mm f4 ($888)
Pros:
Very wide (made for 2x crop)
no adapter needed
Autofocus during video
small and light
Cons:
can't take filters
expensive
pretty slow
not true manual focus
Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 Minolta/Sony mount ($660)
Pros:
cheaper
reputation for great optical performance
true manual focus
can take filters
fast
Cons:
would have to control aperture through an adapter (already have one for my beercan 70-210)
big and heavy
no AF (not a huge deal)
not very wide on 2x crop
So NS, can anyone with experience using either of these lenses point me in the right direction, or otherwise give me a better suggestion? Also does anyone know if there is a difference in optical quality between nikon/canon/sony versions of the tokina?
