Ways to spend approximately $3000

How would you guys spend three grand to maximize fun per dollar? My girlfriend will also have $3k so activities where we could pool our resources are welcome as well.

Some ideas that I have so far are:

blow
hookers
butt sex
my little pony
marsland
weed
three chicks at the same time
give it away to a 14 year old from NS
(just wanted to get those out of the way)

- climbing and mountaineering gear
- rafting gear
- cheap mountain bike and shoes (probably a rockhopper)
- cheap road bike (felt f series)
- scuba cert and gear
- trips to mexico
- volcano mountaineering trip in ecuador
- some sort of outdoor certification/training (already have wfr)

any ideas?

if it's for winter time I'd rent a fly-in cabin somewhere in interior BC and eat and ski and party like kings with a bunch of friends for a week.

Mountain bike is a really good idea too. If you take care of it it can last for a long time and mountain biking fucking rules.

Go on multiple skiing trips in hard to get to places. Rent out a cabin for a 4 day weekend at 3 different places. Between lift tickets, food, traveling costs, it should run you about 3k. Just grab friends and some planning swag.

take 2k and go on an awesome vacation. Then take the other 4k and put it into a high risk/high reward mutual fund.

If you really feel like blowing 3 grand, just buy a bunch of skis and bindings from last year and you''l be set for a really long. or i guess you might want newer skis eventually. So just set the money aside for skis and whatnot in the future.

I say take 2k for a vacation, and put 4k on black.

Doesn't get more high risk/high reward than that. 50% of the time, it works every time.

yeah, I got that. Was just saying that I've been wanting to put a large sum of money down on a single hand of black jack-- which is similar to what he was proposing with a single spin in roulette.  I think in black jack your odds are less than 50/50 though, I think its slightly higher for the house, but I do like the idea of having a little bit of say in my own destiny (ie: choosing to hit or not, double down, etc.).

save at least half of it for a rainy day / time when you really know what you want to spend it on. thats a ton of money so don't just piss it away like most people do. have fun with half and save half for something important, thats my answer.

Buy 2k worth of plain tickets each to cool stuff in the US over the next few months. Like new years in time sqaure, mardi gras, winter x games and so forth. Use couchsurfer.com / ns for places to stay and have a grand each for spending money. Considering how much time it would take, you could save more for other event, work on winningg tickets and so forth.

but they each have 3k. so I think she meant buy tickets with 2,000.00 each, which could be anywhere from 3-7 round trip tickets each depending on your destination and how much you're willing to shop. For instance, the OP is from Colorado, so I looked up round trip tickets from Denver to New Orleans for early May and they're $284 round trip.

Where are you buying tickets?

My flight from LA to Xgames only cost me $212..... LA to MSP was only $278... LA to NY only costs around $300 round trip on Jet Blue....

Probably doesn't work if you live in iowa, but as long as you live near enough to a major airport, it's easy to get flights under $300... that accompanied with vouchers you can get off craigslist... my flights typically cost me less than $100 each. I fly pretty often.. I've magical ways, but they aren't hard to discover.

^dont go to time square for new years, unless you like standing in the freeezing cold in the same spot for 8 hours around 50ok other people, much better ways to spend it than that

Kayak flexible dates, southwest airlines, jet blue airlines, craigslist flight vouchers, book near sold out flights and take standby when available....

Always book final flight through airlines website - get air miles - upgrade to first class.

Adventures and memories are the best way to spend your loot.


Stuff can be cool sometimes, but really doing something with your loot is better. At least that's how I feel.
