Has anyone seen this? saw it friday and my mind was blown. The trailer doesnt do this movie justice. Reminded me of a terantino film it was so dark and distrubed. and the music was great. easily in the top 3 movies ive seen this year.

its honestly so good i you go in expecting a suspenseful dark film, not a Jason stathom esque action movie, which is what i was expecting (and really do enjoy) but this far exceeded that genre. if you like kill bill or pulp fiction or any movie similar to those, youll like drive.

So badass. I caught the premiere at the Cannes Film Festival back in may, and I went to go see it again opening night. Ryan Gosling has 100% redeemed himself from the notebook with this killfest.

whoever said it was the worst movie of all time is obviously a complete idiot.

i guess its the type of movie where i could see someone hating it. but only if that person was a complete idiot/tool/ has horrible taste.

i think its the best movie of the year. the music and vibe of the whole movie was something basically completely new. its a slow movie, but somehow they keep it extremely intense for almost the whole thing. theres not a lot of talking, which i like. driving scenes were awesome, in a realistic way, i just wish there was more driving. and the violence was amazing. also very little to no CGI, which is a HUGE plus because that shit sucks.

this movie is fucking awesome. i was blown away with it. i hadnt heard much about it. but deff worth seeing.

reminded me of the movie taxi driver. just how it was shot, his attitude/character. so good.

I get that it was really cinematic and had good character development, but...I really wish there was more driving. Two driving scene's in a movie called Drive, not gonna cut it.

I completely agree. although cinematography was great, I was not impressed by the plot at all.
I went to see an action filled car chase type of movie and instead I got a bunch of awkward scenes with characters just staring into open space.

fuckin dumb movie. they shot like 15 mins of actual storyline and the rest of the movie was just still or slow-motion shots of people doing really boring things like standing or sitting. absolutely no character development, and basically everyone in the movie just dies without us learning a damn thing about them. that first scene was killer though, it got me all hyped for the rest of the movie, and then i was thoroughly bored and disappointed by the time the credits rolled.

you're just too used to movies explaining and doing everything for you to like it. I thought it had amazing character development, but i guess i just look at it in a different way. it does leave out possibly "important" details, and it isnt very "complete" but i feel like thats how its supposed to be, and i love movies like that. its more art than story i guess?
anyway, people who dont like movies like this are usually people that think like you. not saying its bad or anything, just another way of thinking.

whatever dude i love movies, i've seen over 2000 of them and this one was one of the worst. i feel like it was TRYING to be artsy but just ended up looking like something a 24 year-old hipster shot with his high-school drama buddies on his iPhone. everyone in the theater i saw it at felt the same way.

I have to agree with this for the most part, I did like the filming and the cinematography. but the idea of the movie is to drive damnit. thats the name! and 90% of it was "character development" which was just some well shot scenes of some shy guy who doesnt like to talk, just look blankly out of frame. I can see media/arts guys really liking the movie, but as a joe shmoe who wants to go see a movie about a guy who drives a car i was not impressed.

here is why I loved it- first of the music- and lack of music was perfect- it was a great film, acting was perfect, the lack of dialogue was great- I was tense the whole damn film



and my favorite part- the major car chases don't have any music- paying tribute ot the greatest car movie of all time Bullit





overall id say one of the best films of the year

This is what happened to me. I was so pissed, I thought it was going to be allot of drifting and driving. maybe what 3 driving scenes? and lots of dragged out scenes that were of him just blank stare with some shitty music. DON'T WATCH IF YOU WERE EXPECTING LOTS OF DRIVING AND FSU IN THE MOVIE.

Just watched this movie and it was absolutely amazing.  I thought Gosling did a great job for the character he was playing.  He's suppose to be a quiet Clint Eastwood style badass that doesn't need to talk all the time unlike the moron Vin Diesel comic book action heroes we have in movies today.  I absolutely loved how he was so quiet during the whole thing and it meshed with his character so well.  Like how he ends up driving away in the end.  He's just the perfect loner, genius, hero.  He's this quiet guy but he ends up being so supremely violent, its just insane.

The whole lack of dialogue  in general was amazing.  It reminded me of Sergio Leone, specifically Once Upon a Time in America.  I love how rather than build a movie with dialogue he tells a story with acting and cinemotography.

And duuuude, the soundtrack 10/10, fits so perfectly with the movie.

Also all like the floating shots over the city.  It just seemed so dreamy and hypontic.  Characterized LA in such a beautiful and unique way and really gave the movie an amazing feel.  The scene by the ocean was amazing too.

Also loved seeing my favorite TV show actors in the movie.  I thought all the actors did amazing.

I want to agree with this very badly, but i dont think i can.

Ok the soundtrack was absolutely perfect for this movie, and im not saying that the actors were bad at all, on the contrary, Carey Mulligan and Gosling are both very strong actors.

But the fact that the first half of the movie (like an hour or so) was nothing but silence and shots of people doing mundane tasks while staring off into the distance didnt appeal to me at all. And when i had nearly given up on the movie, everybody dies!! just fucking dies in the most gruesome ways possible. It didnt make sense! The second half of the movie could have been a completely seperate thing from the first half. I also just didnt think it had a great plot is all...idk thats how i felt.

TheQuailman's review was spot on. I loved how he didn't even have a name, just silent and deadly. The story escalated great too, right to the peak of the story. It sucked the Hank died, but, I still loved it. I mean, he stabbed a guy with a shower pole. Great movie, everyone should see it

I thought it was terrible. So much time spent watching characters doing nothing. So many moments when I just wanted to scream at the screen "DO SOMETHING. OR AT LEAST SAY SOMETHING"

And for a film called 'Drive' the driving was terrible. Mustang with some other engine noise dubbed over it. Piece of shit dodge out-pacing a mustang up a mountain road. Full on smashing into another car at the end and not even scratching his own.

My housemate liked it though and told me to 'go watch a Michael Bay movie you philistine.'

Also enjoyed the fact that he didn't change his shirt throughout the movie, and was just a mess. So many people these days expect explosions and high pace scenes, Drive reminded me of a Western, but not Western at all

Those are my opinions. Its an intriguing movie but I clearly don't have the patience of the slow parts or appreciate the 'art' enough to enjoy it.
My housemate has it right, I am kindof a philistine.

And the driving is TERRIBLE. Any car nut would cringe at the driving scenes in that movie.
